| Warm summer Wed evening, so we popped in for a couple of pints on the decking by the the river. Delightful. Timmy Taylors and Rebellion IPA, also delightful. Plenty of crumpet to look at too, even more delightful. Mix of clientele.. boaters and locals, but a bit full of the Cookham 'Oorays who seem to have adopted the place owing,no doubt, to it's up-market styling, Not so delightful..! Pleasant, nevertheless. | I think the service is better midweek. I took my parents on a Tuesday evening and the food was pretty good. Crispy duck salad for main was delicious, but the chilli squid starter was slightly over-cooked, but very tasty, enough for two to share. On a downside, the menu hasn't hardly changed since it first opened, so a little variety would be well received. Nothing truly outstanding here but have to agree, a huge improvement to ye olde Harvester. loulou247 - 17 Aug 2006 14:21 |
| Sorry, don't agree at all... Went there for a meal on a Saturday night... you can't park in Cookham ofr love nor money, the place was heaving, nowhere to sit and have a drink before our meal, service was slow, starter had to be returned for being cold, main went back too. Rare is not the same as raw!! The menu is ok, but its typical of the new breed of overpriced, glossy gastropubs that are more style over substance. Pretty disappointed all round really, but at least its no longer a Harvester!! timhall - 19 Jun 2006 12:44 |
| Totally agree with the review below. It was tired and worn out as a Harvester. But I have been back a couple of times recently after the referb. The beer has been good and great to sit outside on the decking and watch the Thames go by when it is warm enough. Gann - 14 Jan 2006 22:27 |
| Refurbished from a Harvester. Decor is very nice, the food menu is much better, good pizza's and steaks. Great for a drink outside by the river in the sunshine! A definite recommendation. sarabarber - 22 Aug 2005 16:12 |
