Recomded this pub by my daughter who went in on a Friday night and had a great time. Decided to give it a try with the family on a Sunday. Very busy when we arrived but got served quickly and by bar staff who SMILE at you. Sunday night is Karaoke with joe public belting out tunes – some good, some not quite as good. Very good fun though with other customers joining in the singing. The pub is spotless and clean, no trouble and with a BIG welcome – both the landlord and landlady came over to our table during the night making sure all was OK. Definitely will return, hopefully to try out the food which apparently is very good.

The royal sovereign was never a place I would go 2 before because of it's reputation. Heard from a few people that it's been taken over & had been refurbished, so thought I'd give it a try. I was amazed, the staff were so friendly & had a great band playing. Even went back the next day for lunch & the food was lovely. Very good value for money, will deffinatley be going back:)

Watched the rugby here on Saturday evening.
Found pub by accident as was desperate to find somewhere to watch the game. Decent screens and some pleasant locals tho. there were still more than a few Neanderthal's so can understand some of the earlier comments.
Very decent Doom Bar esp. @£2:50/pint!
Landlord - Bob? - and staff attentive. A pub on the up hope it keeps improving.
Given a 6 as can't do 5&half!

Still attracts a dodgy crowd, despite recent take-over. I'll give it one more go but I don't hold out much hope.

After seeing that the place had changed hands I popped in with a couple of friends, still kinda scruffy looking but they're obviously working on it. Had a couple of pints of London Pride and although its not my favourite it was well kept. Had the all day breakfast which did exactly what it said on the tin, pub menu with reasonable prices. I'll definately be back especially if they put a larger range of ales on.
