Went in for an early saturday evening pint, was quiet and suspect that they maybe struggling for custom. Good location overlooking Newhaven harbour.A bonus is that this is one of the very view places in the area that sells LEFFE BLOND on draft. Nice outside area douvres - 22 Sep 2008 21:12

Surprisingly modern interior decor, but really the best place is out on the terrace where one can happily while away some spare time watching the shipping in the harbour. OK pint of Harveys. rpadam - 26 May 2008 23:51
great place for a beer and food nice to watch the world sail past the window.. great live bands every other week! solo - 15 Apr 2008 19:12
Great food. Imaginative chef and really becoming a great venue. More of a bistro than a pub but still keeping pub values if you know what I mean: welcoming and bright with 'distressed' traditonal look and sofas and comfy chairs. Outside seating area which is very pleasant overlooking the Ouse, fishing boats and soon-to-be-tarted-up East Quay. Cormorants great fun to watch as they fish in the harbour. Fits in so well as a beacon of progess as Newhaven tries to regenerate itself. Coffee also very good as The Ark has recently invested in an espresso machine and really good qualilty coffee. Friendly young staff trying hard to make this a destinaton venue - and I think succeeding in that endeavour. Original paintings, really good, of local scenes including atmospheric depictions of the Newhaven ferry at night, adorn the walls and are for sale. Something different in a town which has had its troubles and now seems to be on the verge of a renaissance. Marina nearby and new landscaped walks make the West Quay, where it is situated, a pleasant place to spend a few hours. anonymous - 7 Sep 2007 23:30
