Has closed and it looks like it is going to stay closed. Rumours of conversion to flats.

Bar billiards. The team here participate in the Lewes League. Came here with the Redhill team and we were looked after very well with a free Sunday roast before we went off to Tunbridge Wells in the evening. Top marks from me.

re the below posting I forgot to mention the Jolly Boatman which is the best proper pub in town, old fashioned but real.

Poorly run with unfriedly locals.... Newhaven struggles on many levels but if you find yourself here and need to use a pub then the Ark and The Hope are the best of the bunch down on the West Quay... they are are as good as it gets

This was a pleasant surprise, considering the only other review and my preconceptions of Newhaven in general! I cannot comment on the upstairs rooms and I did not notice any porn on the bar. There was a choice of three real ales and the one I chose, from the Hammerpot brewery, was very good. The Thursday night crowd seemed decent enough too.
