Not visited for a couple of years, happy to be back. Really pleased to see local fish on the menu , their mediterranean fish stew was top class with big scallops, mussels, white fish and prawns - ingredients change every time depending on what's available.

Roomy Victorian pub with high ceilings, view of river/harbour. Some interesting artwork on the walls. They deserve to do well though might need more staff on sunny summer days.

Visited on 15th Feb just before 2PM. Managed to get a baguette before the deadline at 2 but sadly no real ales on and I'm not a Euro-Fizz lover. Prices not to steep. Very friendly staff and a river front outlook though not very scenic. Could imagine this place would do well on warm Summer days. Seems to be a music venue judging by the posters on the bar walls.

Went on a Bank Holiday Monday for breakfast by the river. Great service, terrific breakfast. Good setting. Nice atmosphere inside cosy, but plenty of room, and being refurbished, outside it was lovely watching the boats. Easy parking/

Look forward to an evening with a band one night and a meal, will write another review

Young staff always friendly, good ale - Never let me down, Quirky interior, a good stop especially when the rain comes while out with the dog and not a thosand miles from town either!

Went in for an early saturday evening pint, was quiet and suspect that they maybe struggling for custom. Good location overlooking Newhaven harbour.A bonus is that this is one of the very view places in the area that sells LEFFE BLOND on draft. Nice outside area

Surprisingly modern interior decor, but really the best place is out on the terrace where one can happily while away some spare time watching the shipping in the harbour. OK pint of Harveys.

Great food. Imaginative chef and really becoming a great venue. More of a bistro than a pub but still keeping pub values if you know what I mean: welcoming and bright with 'distressed' traditonal look and sofas and comfy chairs. Outside seating area which is very pleasant overlooking the Ouse, fishing boats and soon-to-be-tarted-up East Quay. Cormorants great fun to watch as they fish in the harbour. Fits in so well as a beacon of progess as Newhaven tries to regenerate itself. Coffee also very good as The Ark has recently invested in an espresso machine and really good qualilty coffee. Friendly young staff trying hard to make this a destinaton venue - and I think succeeding in that endeavour.

Original paintings, really good, of local scenes including atmospheric depictions of the Newhaven ferry at night, adorn the walls and are for sale. Something different in a town which has had its troubles and now seems to be on the verge of a renaissance. Marina nearby and new landscaped walks make the West Quay, where it is situated, a pleasant place to spend a few hours.
