| The Pub had the outside redecorated October 2009. There are now 3 Real Ales available as well as a good selection of beers, wines & spirits. There are some great seasonal specials on at the moments, and the fortnightly Quiz is ever popular. A pool competition is being started on Sunday nights. The lighting has also been changed. | Didn't like this place at all. Beer was vinegary and served by a surly barman. nickthefish - 9 Jul 2009 09:52 |
| I agree with Rex, nice place on the inside has got a pool table which is well positioned so you're not knocking into people all the time. Drink selection was ok. All in all a good pub. Teskea - 20 Apr 2009 21:28 |
| Young’s Bitter and Bombardier were the only real ales on. The Young’s Bitter (at £2.70 a pint) was just about OK.This pub looks very unprepossessing from the outside, but is better when you step inside. The emphasis seems to be on food, but there’s no problem if you just want to have a drink. I didn’t eat there, but the food being devoured by other punters looked to be very good. There is a pool table at the back; a few sofas, but the majority of the seating consists of normal tables and chairs. It’s a largish corner site pub, that unfortunately has not apparently retained any evidence of its mid-Victorian heritage. But it’s a reasonably good pub – not worth going out of your way to find, though OK if you’re in the area and fancy a pint. I would sum it up as being clean and functional, and quite welcoming. | Potentially this could be my local, so went in to check it out. Reasonably crowd in for a Thursday night. Quiet atmosphere, missed the Bombadier when I ordered, so had a couple of pints of Guinness. Fair pint. Ate there as well. Menu pretty good and not too expensive. Had the cottage pie and then Apple Pie and custard. Apple Pie excellent. Barman very friendly and there's free wireless internet if you want to bring your laptop. Nice pub, I'll go back. old_wodger - 10 Mar 2007 10:55 |
