Charming little pub from the outside, however on entering it reminded me of the scene from "An American Werewolf in London" when the two American tourists enter the remote moors pub, pretty unwelcoming to say the least. Granted it was midweek and fairly late but the landlord ? was churlish at best. The beer resonable, i've had better Hooky at The Elephant and Castle in Bloxham, and the choice limited to Hooky. All in all a disappointment. Which begs the question, how did this pub win the Pub of the year competition ? Are the rumours true ? wellinformed - 12 Apr 2008 16:55
Went in on a Sunday night, the place was like battersea dogs home. There must of been 6 dogs in the tiny bar. Have since visited and the beer is good, but I won't be going back. Yorkshireman - 10 Mar 2008 13:17
You won't get a better pint of cask ale or pub food! They've got a Cask Ale Drinkers Club and CAMRA members get 10% off every Monday evening and on the first Saturday of every month. You get £1.00 off a 4 pint jug of cask ale at any time. It's in the GBG and it's got a Beautiful Beer Gold Award. Try it, you won't be dissapointed! Informe - 11 Dec 2007 15:58
Great village pub. There is plenty of character in this Hooky pub. Excellent quality Real Ale, 4 Hooky's plus a guest, and a good range of pub food. Lots going on every night of the week. No juke box or piped music allows the conversation to flow. Cracking. imdownthepub - 25 Feb 2006 09:31
