A fantastic pub. I came across the Atlantic to drink a pint in my "name sake" pub and I was not disappointed. I had called the pub prior to leaving the States and spoke with Julie the owner. I told here that I was a "Birkey" and that I was intending on coming to Crosby (Liverpool) for a visit. Had a great night of conversation about pub history, looking at old pictures and hearing the stories. The staff were friendly, good beer and lager, and a super atmosphere created by music, laughter and diversity in clients. I would love to bring my two brothers over sometime to share a night with them in this place. Thanks to all "The Birkey" from a "Birkey". thejudhe - 25 May 2007 17:03
Wow, is this place still open? I used to have some great nights in here. Great pub. anonymous - 28 Mar 2006 22:32
Oh well despite my "Recent" comments the Birkey has been refurbished (Re-Opened on 5th Mrach) and still retains all its character. Least now the gents dont have to go "outside" in order to use the gents! Still 2 sides, with pool table and quiz machine on 1 (and the quality jukebox)and 2 big screen TV's on the other. Very friendly staff too BeerMonster44 - 7 Mar 2005 19:44
Used to come in here quite a bit years ago when the beer went up to £1.01 a pint. "That'll be £10.10 please." palmwinedrinkard - 17 Dec 2004 10:59
A nice pub with lots of character, has yet to be refurbished (thank god, and dont think there are any plans too). Divided into 2 sides, 1 side with ample seating and a big screen tv, packed with locals of all ages, good place to have a drink at the end of a stressful day. The other side has a pool table and a quiz machine/ fruit machine. Also possibly the best jukebox ever too! Decent pint at a reasonable price with a reasonable selection! Think they have a few "real ales" too. BeerMonster44 - 1 Dec 2004 02:15
