| For some reason Streatham has a dearth of decent pubs. Taylors is the pick of a bad bunch on the high road but the two best ones by far are this and The Railway. This is quite hidden away but well worth finding as its a little gem. It's small & homely, sunday lunch is great (and busy so book ahead if you can), and there's a nice selection of beers. On our first visit we were welcomed really warmly & the food we've eaten there has always been very tasty. Unlike so many pubs they actually seem to care if you will return or not. file under 'well worth finding' millsie99 - 11 Jan 2010 14:57 |
| Popped in for a quick Xmas Eve beer, stayed for two - situation normal. The best pub in the area although the Leigham Arms is closer to my home; great atmosphere, two real ales on (Twickenham Original and Christmas Cheer) and a really inclusive local feel. Bit dim in the evening to read and there's music on so not a quiet drink tonight - but a funky playlist. Friends have had food here recently and recommend it. Hard to fault. | Closed at 13:45 last Thursday, & I now see from their website that they don't open until 16:00 weekdays. No rating. trainman - 23 Aug 2009 09:22 |
| Nice local pub which has local beer including Sambrook's Wandle, good food - pollock and chips was good - and a pleasant atmosphere. There is even a pool table round the side as well as a dartboard though that seems to just be there for decoration. All sorts of people in there and friendly staff who were very eager to replace my drink because the barrel had gone on too recently - and concerned I might not like to have a handle jug! I went on as you may imagine to sample several more pints. 'It's like you're at a party' - well, I was actually as it was a friend's birthday, but I can see how it might be that way anyway. The website is good too, a bit dark but there is no pointless Flash and it includes a beer list, not just wine! Too many of these sites ignore the beer. Worth a top rating. rainlight - 15 Aug 2009 09:33 |
| I've lived in this area for over four years and there are some great pubs in the area (and many more bad ones). The Earl Ferrers since being turned around by new owners in mid-2008 has gone from strength to strength. I go in there at least twice a week and there are different ales every time, always excellently kept. The selection of lagers is also good. Food is excellent, personal favourites being the cheese plate and gourmet burger. For the price this is some of the best food in the area. scruffmeister - 21 Apr 2009 21:34 |
