@laughingduck - yup; and I remember the days they used to brew their own beers too. I still remember the day, passing thru Streatham again, with anticipation, and unwittingly walked into a laddos pub... rachaelov - 25 Jun 2011 20:18
used to run this in the 70s,three ground level bars(fanny by gaslight, inside out and the eel pie bar i think),two downstairs bars(guilded cage and buggsy bar(that had coffins for tables)....great fun,and when you think it was rammed to the rafters every night, just goes to show what has happened to the pubs over the years...anybody who remembers those days...put a post.... laughingduck - 21 Jun 2011 15:08
Why is this place open??? I have never seen more than 10 people in here. Is nicely refurbished and usually friendly staff but no customers except people who have either got lost or who seem permanently lost. ralphholland - 21 Jun 2011 14:11
First sign of civilisation on part four of my tour of the capital ring. Avoided mick jaggers pizza restaurant over the road and came to this huge, traditional looking pub. Very quiet on a thursday at 8pm but a very friendly bar man made time for a conversation. One of only 300 pubs selling stella black, in nice ceremonial glasses. Very tempted to add it to my collection :-). Comedy nights and banging tunes on a weekend, by the looks of the flyers. Mappiman - 18 Jun 2011 09:11
Went in here the other Sunday for a roast dinner. It was OK, the dinner was nice, and the staff were friendly enough. It's all a bit sterile though, very newish-looking, with not much character. Also, there was some banging house music being piped out into the beer garden, which apart from me and my friends was populated by about 15 people who were over 50, so the music seemed wholly unsuited. But I'd happily drop in again for a pint if I was passing, although it was very quiet when I visited, so no idea what it's like on a busy night (if it ever gets busy). ticoallstar - 24 Jun 2008 23:24
