My wife and I visited here once on a nice sunny day. We had a great meal and liked the pub very much.

A place you take visitors to rather than have as a local. The Sharps Abbey Christmas was drinkable. Has all the history etc blah blah blah.... but not really worth heading too especially.

Reading the reviews this is definitely a hit and miss pub. When we visited all the continental beers were not available but theTaylors Landlord and Harveys Sussex were good. You risk life and limb doing the dash across the road to get to the pub. Overall.... a bit soulless.

Reading some of the previous comments I've come to the conclusion that either I was lucky or they were unlucky.
I visited in the middle of the afternoon and stayed for two pints. No children and no queue, although it was quite busy. The staff were efficent rather than friendly. I didn't have a meal.
The ales were good. Tribute and Harvey's Sussex. The place is very historic, unfortunately it wasn't the right weather for sitting in the garden.
The position of the pub can make access a bit hairy as it's on a main road with no path.

excellent pub, charming, great service and food was delicious - it is that good that people flock here when the sun comes out ,so to those who complain about the small waits lump it!
