Recently visited this sympathetically refurbed pub and it is now another absolute gem in the already excellent drinking city of Norwich. 15 (many local) ales to have a go at served by a knowledgeable and friendly barmaid. On my visit all were in fine condition, my favourite being the Northcote Cow Tower. Crooked_Canary - 21 Sep 2011 12:01
Interesting real ales both local (Tipples, Spectrum) and 'foreign', mainly from micros. One not in nice condition was taken off as soon as I pointed it out - others were all tip top. Evening started a bit deserted but warmed up after nine o'clock. The pub has really been refurbished nicely; bar staff friendly and chatty, and a 10% discount for CAMRA members too. andreak - 8 Aug 2011 16:17
This has recently changed ownership and become a real ale drinkers heaven ! 15 real ale were on and these were all displayed on a huge blackboard which is a great help ! Barmaid Alex was one of the most enthusiastic members of staff i have met in a long time. Her knowledge of real ale was also very good. And the pub also allowed tasters which is a nice touch when the choice is so vast. Tried the Salopian Lemon Dream and one from Spectrum who's name escapes me.Both were served in tip top condition. Norwich already has a huge amount of choice for real ale but I would put this up with the Fat Cat as one of the best and would recommend anyone who is having a real ale crawl to add this to the list. mattyd6672 - 17 Jul 2011 08:44
