user reviews of Spirit Merchant, Newtownards

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Actually had a reasonable pint here - and for £1.35. They also advertised an Ulster Fry for £2.70 and coffee at 90p. For all the 'value' still didn't stop for a second but have to admit it was the only decent pint of ale (and cheapest by far) consumed in the six counties

Regular customer,I took my family and two close friends for dinner at Patrick's day!was told by staff member (not duty manager) I was not to be served and furthermore either was my table (our two friends had already been served a drink by duty manager at this point),my youngest daughter is autistic and with a change so drastic from getting her seated to order her dinner to having to pack them all up and walk in the rain to another restaraunt was disgusting for children to have to go through,I am still awaiting a response from the pub manager and head office as to why I was refused, why was my family and partner refused and why were my friends served and then refused, normally a great pub but extremely unprofessional in this instance, manager completely shirked her responsibility in relaying why or if I was barred,I'm no angel but generally well behaved when out and about but my kids have done nothing or my partner and friends, avoid avoid avoid ,rules seem to be made up on the spot here, actually because of a history between myself and the duty manager I have had to wait for service longer or actively be served by different staff as she has on various occasions before this, completely ignored myself and partner in the que something we just put up with because it is generally a good bar with some really fantastic staff, but there is an element in there that needs a complete attitude over haul also a refresher on how to be more professional

Dreadful pub, full of well dodgy looking clientele, young barman on duty lunchtime on 23/10/13 serves regular customers first. Definitely won't be back.

Fairly poor Wetherspoons with 4 ales on plus 3 real ciders. Greene King Abbot & Ruddles Best, Hook Norton Haymaker & Mordue Summer Tyne were on. Cider was Addlestones plus Westons Marcle Hill & Old Rosie. Noisy kids running around didn't create a pleasant drinking environment. Other than that, it was a typical Wetherspoons.

Now this is what I call a "Let Down". Or maybe it was just the evening I went out. It was packed and we had to stand all evening because there were no seats. You think this place could do something to prevent this. We ended up leaving and went elsewere.
