The Pack Horse is one of the oldest pubs in keswick and serves Robinsons Ale which are excellent. The food is also of an excellent standard, the best pub food in keswick,i would describe it as being good honest pub grub. The Publican is a genuine local character who is happy to have a good chat. Infact THE PACK HORSE IS PROBABLY THE BEST PUB IN KESWICK daniel68 - 13 Dec 2011 13:26
This has improved since last year. The beers are acceptable and they have a Wednesday night quiz (not to be taken too seriously). The guvnor was happy to let us linger after the other punters had gone home. 16jamesdoc - 18 Jul 2011 09:55
This used to be one of the better pubs in Keswick. But on my last visit here was a shortage of real ale and what was on was not in good form. What's more there seemed to be no desire to remedy the situation. Luckily the Dog & Gun's just across the road! Very disappointing. ed.spbw - 11 Jul 2010 15:18
Down an alleway off the main street this is worth checking out. Narrrow but deceptively large pub with a substantial dining area upstairs. Good choice of at least 3 real ales. Food is excellent & well served. We were lucky enough to share a few drinks with the landlord Matty & his wife Helen. Lovely, genuine people who take a pride in what they do, & it was them who made it a great night for us. Highly recommended. happytyskie - 6 Feb 2010 21:21
Now I know why it was empty when we walked in...I asked the lady at the bar for a wine list and recieved a very short 'haven't got one' answer without offering anything else. My partner then asked for a pint of Guiness to be told 'its off' in the same disinterested manner. Not a warm, customer freindly welcome at all. When we did eventually get our drinks but the wine I had was undrinkable, I can only imagine the bottle had been open for some time. We certainly will be advising friends not to visit there as there are many other pubs in Keswick to choose from. petalpumpkin - 9 Mar 2009 19:57
