Been here three times for a mid-week lunch with grandchildren. On each occasion it was excellent with friendly helpful staff and good value food.
Don't know what it is like on a Sunday or in the evening but we will definitely be back again - it makes an ideal stopping point on a long journey particularly in the summer with its large garden

Service was TERRIBLE, I strongly recommend finding somewhere else to go for the evening - this place is not worth it.

The main problem was the waiter got every order wrong; didn't listen to our orders, we repeatedly had to ask again for drinks and food that didn't arrive, orders arrived at different times for our party of 6 and finally the bill was not correct.

Secondly, the menu and food was not great and definitely not worth the money. Early on in the night they ran out of real ale.

This pub/restaurent is trying to be 'gastro' but failing miserably.

We visited on Sunday of August bank holiday weekend and the pub was very busy.
We did not book but luckily the Manager said he would squeeze us in for a quick roast.

I am so grateful he did. This was one of the best roast dinners i have ever had, no wonder they were busy!
The beef was to die for, real melt in your mouth this with the biggest yorkie i have ever seen plus golden crispy potatoes and fresh steamed local veg.

This was washed down with a couple of pints of doombar which was lovely and clear and perfect temp. There was also two other ales avaliable, maybe i will go tomorrow to try them!

Great pub, great food, drink and service.

Visited Saturday last...Skate smelt of ammonia..i.e....was off...everyone included waistresses and front of house could clearly smell this but NOT the chef.....if the Chef has NO sense of smell....heaven help you!.......food took ages....not particularly nice....basically...another place doing pub grub and charging restaurant prices....Michelin recommended places charge less!
Service staff in T shirts also looks poor!...
NOT a restaurant and slowwwww service...will not be back
