Been here a few times now and this pub never disappoints. The sheer range of ale available is totally unexpected. The locals always seem a friendly bunch; a mix of working class natives and a steady stream of beer tourists. Ladies behind the bar a good laugh, beer well kept. An essential place to go if you like traditional boozers.

After seeing this place attract positive reviews I took the opportunity to divert whilst cycling the Regents Canal yesterday lunchtime to see what all the fuss was about. And after I eventually found it the initial reaction was, dodgy looking pub, in a dodgy location, with some dodgy characters standing outside having a fag, I wonder what people see in this place ?
And then I walked through the front door to be greeted with the row of nine hand pumps with several from far flung micro breweries. Ah, that’ll be it then.
Excellent pint of Mighty Oak Malden Gold , and a shame I didn’t have the opportunity to stay to try more.
I can see why people rave about this place, however lucky I was on my tod and not cycling with the misses or I would have got the full “ We’re not bloody well going in there !” and would have missed the experience.

Nice unpretentious pub with loads of real ale and non-aspirational customers. Just about as far from the Islington gastro pubs nearby as you can get.

A backstreet gem. On Sunday evening a jazz trio of three elderly gents entertained us royally.

Never mind the quiz - has someone dusted and polished? I didn't realise there were mirrors around the bar. And the toilets....they are cleaner. Feel a bit dizzy, need a drink.

Sad to read Wesley 12 comments, Locals won the question quiz NOT I think using I Phones and the picture quiz was won by a nice crowd of people who corrected me on a question on phobia's thankfully everybody had virtually the same answer so it made no difference.
Ian Won the raffle but picked the wrong envelope with this question in it. "In Greek mythology, who is the Goddess of Youth, the daughter of Hera and Zeus? She was the cup bearer for the Gods and Goddess, of Mount Olympus, serving their Nectar and Ambrosia, until she married Heracles".
