Nice unique pub in the heart on coleshill. always a couple of real ales on along with the regular beers. nice cosy little lounges where you can relax with friends Great for smokers too, they have a nice courtyard decked out with flowers in the summer months where you can puff to your hearts content (ex smoker 3 years and still in denial) The Hopmeister hopmeister - 6 Apr 2011 23:23
Friendly locals pub where the clientele were reveling in Birmingham City's Carling Cup victory. Many were sporting blue noses and looked vaguely ridiculous! Nevertheless, the atmosphere was good and the welcome was warm. Brakspear Oxford Gold, Hydes Splash & Dash, Brew XI & Bass were the beers. The interior is fairly traditional with a bar, a corridor with a serving hatch and a couple of other lounges. Service was efficient. Certainly a place I would return to and I noted a mix of age groups. So maybe the younger folk are also starting to appreciate this pub too. blue_scrumpy - 28 Feb 2011 23:00
Hi all, I miss my visits to this great little pub. I met dinigrow, who was working hard behind the bar. I miss a great beer, staff who try hard to make you welcome and great pub. For those who have not yet made a visit, Coleshill rail St not to far away and apart from the Green Man you will find many more pubs around that would take a full days visit. But the Green Man I am sure is number one Nick S Phillips Birmingham. Nickphillips - 28 Dec 2010 18:37
I work at The Green Man and, having worked at and frequented a number of other local pubs over the last 13 years, can safely say it's my favourite place to be, even behind the bar! Helen, the landlady, the other staff and regulars are friendly and although it has the reputation of being an 'old man pub' due to the number of customers still drinking in there for the past umpteen years, everyone is made welcome (as long as they behave)! The place is well looked after, the beer is the best in town, to the point that it's now featured in the Good Beer Guide, there's Sky TV, a top notch smokers' garden and (on my shifts at least) decent music!! - Blame Helen for Abba/The Nolans, although she can sometimes be persuaded to skip it in return for half a lager!! dinigrow - 14 Nov 2010 09:40
I would like to thank Helan her staff and regulars who were present on 25th September 2009, when we said farewell to my father. Eric Phillips died at the age of 95 it was only seven days before that he was at the Green Man, he always felt very welcome enjoyed the fact that he would always find some one to have a chat with regardless of age. He only became a regular some eleven years ago but when I went to vist him he was quick to say let's go and have a drink at the Green Man. His Grand Children, Great Grand Children, were pleased to say farewell in a place that he had spoken of many times to them, they now understood why he enjoyed his night out at the Green Man. Thanks from his Boys. Nickphillips - 18 Oct 2009 11:01
