| A small local pub conveniently located on the main road, just a few hundred yards from Chapel Ash. Buses are frequent and it's about a 20 minute walk from the city centre. Found out about this pub when I visited their website as it was recommended by a friend of mine to view what it had got to offer. went there last October with a couple of mates who live in Wolverhampton, the staff were polite and friendly. The atmopshere is more a genuine local, frequented by regulars who live within walking distance of the pub. Fairly low key but the drinks are brilliant, found the cobs nice, liked them - the downside to the place is the prices of a pint are steep, but enjoyed the guest beers on tap. maybe will visit the pub again, but I don't live in Wolverhampton, so visits are seldom made. the decor was a bit dated, tired-looking, but that's what makes pubs unique, with a charm and character of its own. Worth popping into if just passing by or visiting, if a little pricey, the drinks are and staff are polite. sidneysnot - 18 Jul 2010 19:39 |
| Inspired by the ROBCamra roadshow i made a return to the Chindit, especially as i am more open now to drinks other than MILD. The exterior of this late 1940s pub can be seen in the picture and ROB has given a description of the interior. The music played was of a decent level. The service, again, was functional and the small clientele was more mature, but it is a locals place. Beer; well tap tosh, still without MILD. The four handpulls served up two Titanics, Iceberg and White Star, along with a decnet Hereford Pale Ale and the superb Enville Ale. The pub has grown on me a little more, the beer is very good, however, i still feel like i am tolerated rather than welcomed, but score has increased and it will appear on our 'to visit list' a little more often Archivist - 18 Aug 2009 11:07 |
| L shaped pub split into two rooms. The front room has a pool table and Beatles posters on the walls. The rear room has a load of framed beer adverts along with a fantastic Wychwood Brewery mirror with the usual picture of the dog on it, the slogan underneath is “The Dogs Bollocks – brewed exclusively for sad bastards”. They also have live music on Fridays. Eight handpumps on the bar doubling up in each room selling Enville Ale, Wye Valley HPA and two from Ironbridge, Gold and Golden Gate. Got talking to the friendly landlord/barman about Ironbridge beers as the two I had here were better kept than any I’ve ever drunk in Ironbridge itself. | Wanted to visit this place due to the name - the soldiers of the Burma campaign in WII. Very quiet when i visited, but not overly friendly i felt - but it was my one and only visit, as of course, like the others say, there is no Mild i wont be going back. Has a pool table and TV.
