Nice pub, and damned good manageress (Della) who knows her beer. Best the beer has been for a while. Shame WDB/Banks/Marstons have lost their way....
So who owns it?? Gisaclue?? Corporate lack of vision, this should be WDB's flagship pub, with some serious investment, in what currently is a jaded, open plan environment, with a long-disused sandwich bar, a real eyesore. Food is good value for the money, and Pedigree drinkers should visit to drink it at its best. Had a very pleasant evening (or two) there.

Well what can I say, it’s just like Archivist says. However the small room at the back of the bar has leather seating which is ripped with the stuffing falling out, which is a bit of a mess. There are loads of interesting pictures around the walls and it also has a quiz machine and a function room for hire. When I visited last night the beer range was exactly the same as when Archivist visited. It was about 6.30 and despite the pub being very food led there was no-one eating in any of the rooms. The menu is very Wetherspoonalike with special offers and 2 for £x type of stuff. I had a pint of the Wizards Staff which was served way too cold, almost lager temperature. It’s not my favourite pub in Chapel Ash I’m afraid.

A very nice looking Victorian building. The facade is half brick and half rendered, with etched windows and a name board that runs the length of the building. The interior has a large open plan room, where the bar is, with several smaller rooms running off. One area has Sky TV, another is mainly for food. The place was clean and the service was very friendly.

The beer had the usual stuff, with Banks's MILD and bitter and handpull, as well as Wychwood Wizards Staff, Pedigree, Cumberland Ale, which was very nice, and Ringwood Old Thumper. We also ate. The food was cheap and what you would expect.

I think i prefer this to any other place in Chapel Ash, which includes the Combermere.
