Yes Landlordx I know who you are and I hope they are treating you and your good lady well down under. The Cross Keys was the best pub in Penryn, the cleanest and the most entertaining for adults and children alike. I left the same time as you for 'newcastle' and by the sounds of it got out just in time. I cannot believe the reports but they must be true. I am still in touch with a particularlly rotund lady and she tells the same story. How sad. I am relieved that my kids got out just in time also. We are all well and I recently became a granny. Good luck to you and R. xcust.res - 3 Nov 2007 00:49
As my username explains i used to be a landlord of this pub. A hell of a lot of work was done to the place in the short time i was there (with most of the work being done by local's). It was a good pub when i left it although to be fair i havnt been back in a couple of years. We had a good crowd and where always busy with punters of legal drinking age, live bands, karaoke, quiz nights, pool comps and more.. And for those of you who have worked out who i am, i hope your all well. landlordx landlordx - 9 Feb 2007 12:01

Despite a change of management, the proverbial sticks to a blanket. Bad press of underage drinking and its associated problems still linger. A rather shabby lick of paint has done little to improve the general lack-lustre interior, combined with even less enthusiastic staff, second rate beer in (if your lucky semi-clean glasses), miscreants and ner-do-wells frequent this hovel on a regular basis. Not to be recommended for the discerning drinker with a subtle pallet or for families on a day out. A real winner for tarts and their punters, under eighteens and baseball cap wearing thugs! Enter at your peril!!! nursetursham - 29 May 2006 23:53
