user reviews of the Royal Standard, Flushing

Living in nearby Mabe, I love coming to this pub to eat. The food is fab (The belly pork to die for!) and the staff very friendly. The comment below by StellaDrinker is wrong, I have never paid for my food up front, they are quite happy for you to run a tab, without having to leave a card or anything similar.
Sitting outside on a summer's evening is lovely, as is inside on a winter's evening.
From my point of view, one of the additional stars this pub gets is because its very dog friendly.
A local pub, that has been "done up" but not ruined.

Ran in here out of the rain to wait for the bus, and enjoyed a Skinners beer. Friendly local pub.

This pub has been taken over and is mediterranean in style with tables and chairs outside. If you are lucky you may get a glimpse of the river, but you will need to sit on the left hand side of the pub. Food is very good and homecooked. The service poor and they expect you to pay up front before you can eat, which is not very helpful if you decide you want another glass of wine with your meal or a dessert afterwards.

it's a small pub, usually not all that busy, it's got a nice atmosphere.
if you play pool, do allow for the 'standard roll' as the table has a very small roll towards the cueball end.
