Reviews by BITE users:

This is the only pub I visit when I visit London. The beer is top notch, the London Pride is thoroughly well kept. It does get busy, seating can be an issue but this is a good pub to either enjoy a couple of pints and read the paper or spark up a conversation.

The staff are superb, friendly and efficient. The food is fine, although don't come expecting any fancy gastropub nibbles. Sad to see the Steak and Guiness pie has disappeared from the menu on my last trip in December, 2010.

I visit London 6 times per year, The Victoria and the excellent Frontline Club in nearby Norfolk PLace are the only two spots I visit without fail. An absolute must for good beer fans. Plus, there's no TV or annoying music.

ESH?! Of course I did mean: "and not just the usual Pride/ESB/Discovery on tap."

Easily my favourite Fuller's pub. Superb interior, efficient service, and not just the usual Pride/ESH/Discovery tap.

Reviews by BITE users:

The most recent reviews are interesting. I'm normally one that goes for the jugular when it comes to bad customer service, but my two experiences in here have been very good. In fact, the last time (May 2010) was exemplary:

It was the day of the CL final and I asked the landlord if he knew where we could watch the game. He named a pub (it escapes me now) and gave us directions. 5 minutes later he comes over to our table and asks if we want him to book us a table in the next place. We say that would be great, and half an hour on our waty out, the same guy walks us out the out and to the underpass.

Once we get to the spot (nr Ravenscourt tube) we find that we have the best table in the place - right in front of the telly; table set.

Perhaps the rest of the staff in there are obnoxious, but the main man is capable of being a gem.

As someone else said, this is a charming pub in terms of location and interior, but the service is shocking. Disgraceful.
I went in with three friends at about 2pm on Wednesday. There were a handful of customers finishing their meals, and one member of staff, tidying tables and sorting cutlery. We stood at the bar and tried to get his attention. He saw us. He ignored us. One of my friends went and gestured that we were waiting to be served, and was greeted with a face of thunder and a terse 'five minutes'.
This man was NOT busy serving other customers, he was wiping down empty tables. We were not prepared to reward such rudeness by standing, ignored, at the bar for five minutes in order to spend our hard-earned money.
We left, and will not be returning.

A fantastic site but a horrible experience. I will not return to this pub until they change their management. The manager has serious issues with customer service and turns what could be one of the best pubs in London into a very unpleasant experience. Such a shame... As one other reviewer writes: They really don't care about their customers

Visited here last wednesday 26th Jan Late morning. I was doing the Dick Whittington Ale Trail. Unfortuantly they did not have any Tee Shirts Left but did provide an Good Pint of London Pride. Staff were friendly and for early lunchtime the pub was quite busy. Very appealing from the outside in a nice quiet location. would definately go back and would luke it as my local. (unfortuately it is nearly 30 miles away).

If there is anything such as a Nicholsons chain pub, this is it
24 Jan 2011 16:31
Judging by the other recent comments, we must have been unlucky when we visited yesterday about 1600. The place was empty, the staff unwelcoming and clearly bored (despite there being empty glasses on the tables) and with no idea as to a pint measure.

A pretty standard Nicholsons decor. 6 ales on offer - Pride (£2.95), Doombar (£2.75) plus 4 guests (£3.40 irrespective of strength). Usual Nicholsons food menu.

I wouldn't race back.

used to go to this bar before the change of ownership it was a really nice friendly place to spend some time - sadly the new owner ( I believe he's some celebrity) seems to have taken the policy of driving the regular or normal custom away and only wants the shallow high paying celeb wannbees as customers .
If your and orange faced , X factor watching , tastless , vulgar, more money than sense chav it will be right up your street .
If your in any way normal - DON'T GO NEAR THIS PLACE

Owned by Piers Morgan is it.

Well that's this pub removed from my list until he sells up.

i paid a visit to this bar with my girlfriend, and was shocked VERY POOR SERVICE BY THE STAFF OVER PRICE BEER AND MENU. ( I mean its not Mayfair) When i questioned the pricing the answer i got was " don't you know who owns this bar?". I never knew we had to pay extra for that, i was also told its not an Macdonalds. If your like me and want real old style pubs with real ale go to the city WC1 area where they don't rip you off. And the staff don't think they are doing you a favour by serving you, MUCH MUCH MUCH BETTER PUBS TO BE FOUND , DON'T WASTE YOU TIME OR MONEY HERE.

Not really a pub for girls, the barman could not make the cocktail I wanted but he did come up with something nice using what he had behind the bar. Not a bad pub but think I will stick to the Castlebar more welcoming for girls

popped in here the other day as i heard good things about this place, and i wasnt dissapointed. Had a great guinness, and will be back for the next dubs game!
13 Feb 2011 13:19
Small, but it gets busy, was jammed for the chelsea v liverpool game last week, was some athmosphere. Best pint of guinness i've tasted in london and at a resonable price. Service was good and has a good spacious beer garden. Shall be back!
