Your closest bet for a good pint by the station. Was manic tonight though (not sure if it was because of the footy on the telly or if it is usually like this on a sat night) though the staff coped admirably serving people swiftly and in turn. The pint of Flat Cap was on form - didn't have a duff pint anywhere today, must be a first.

Decent sized alehouse with one bar and a number of rooms serving a few decent ales. As mention it's a short bus or train ride out of Blackpool but a welcome oasis of calm in comparison.

I was having a lousy time in blackpool because all the pubs are crap and a rip off and full of drunken stag and hens. So I took a train ride to a small nearby town called poulton-le-fylde where all the pubs were great. This was the pick of the bunch.Six real ales on, a roaring fire and great atmosphere. So the moral of this tale is - If you are in blackpool go somewhere else.

Good pub, well worth a visit. Beers delicious!

Caught it during a beer festival which I presume is why it was rammed, but also why the beer quality was good. Hard to judge normal atmosphere though.

Overtaken by the Town Hall as best pub in Poulton for beer quality.
Still has the best selection of beers on but the selection tends to be of 6/7 beers of the same 4-4.5% ilk ( pale/golden beers).

Have to agree with all comments about this pub. It can be good and then it can be awful - not just overtime,a matter of days in some instances.
The Thatched particularly at weekends is packed to the rafters.
The beer quality has improved of late, though as with my first comment that can quality can change daily - usually 6or7pumps in use. Majority of the ales come from either Bank Top,Clarks, Lytham & Hart.
Perhaps the best pub in Poulton (still) though the Town Hall gives it a run for it's money.

Yep this pub is back on it's feet excellent beer and good staff. 6/7+ Handpumps on with a good range of styles of real ale (darker ones lighter ones). For the lager drinker the Stella is very drinkable. No background music which I know some people like. Gets very busy at weekends which most pubs in Poulton do. Overall excellent pub and maybe not long before it's a Blackpool Fylde and Wyre pub of the season! (P.s. it's got lots of pictures of Blackpool winning the 1953 fa cup on the wall so has to be a good pub in my book :o)

The pub has improved a lot in recent times and is in the latest GBG. Well worth a visit.

This place is well and truly going down the plug-hole. In the last couple of months I've drunk numerous pints that were "off". When I hand my pint back, the staff look at you disbelievingly, thinking you're a troublemaker. The manageress looks lost. The place looks shabby. The Staff wear their pub polo shirts with "WKD" stitched on the arm. Overall, what a shame for a once great ale house!

don`t live in the area anymore but everytime I come back up home then a vist to the "Thatched" is a must if only to recall happy days and nights...Still packed at weekends and the bst part about this pub is it has`nt changed much at all

Still THE place to visit for beer enthusiasts, although I hear the Old Town Hall has a few guest beers too. The Thatched still gets v. busy at weekends so a week night visit is the best bet. My favourite Poulton pub.

Great selection of real Ale - nice pint of 1664 for lager Drinkers - Poulton is always a good night out and This is a compulsary starting point - not that all of the other pubs in the Town Centre arent good

Now living in Vancouver, my brother and I drank there for years. Its probably the only thing I miss about england!! To many fond memories and nice pints!!!

Now living in Spaim (Marbella) I often get asked what do you miss about England - I'll tell you. The warmth of the real fire, the warmth of good conversation, the warmth of Brian & Val and the coolness of the best kept pint in the world. If you are ever in the area this venue is a must.

I remember the Rugby World Cup Final. People queued round the block but alas could not find entrance! Bustling to the brim, the beer was flowing and the crowd was awesome. The noise not only lifted the roof of the Thatched but of every building in the local. A day Ill never forget. Its a pub for those who appreciate good beer, good smokes and good gentlemans sports, a much-celebrated venue.

A true old fashioned pub, no music, lots of sport and brilliant beer. A successfully run pub for many years by Brian and Val.
