The Split Chimp, Newcastle

The River Tyne is formed by the combination of two rivers named the "North Tyne" and the "South Tyne".
The North Tyne begins its life close to the Scottish border just to the north of an expanse of water named "Kielder Water".
The South Tyne starts its journey as a myriad of tiny streams on Alston Moor in Cumbria and passes through the towns of Haltwhistle (The geographic centre of Britain) and Haydon Bridge.
The two rivers converge at Warden Rock close to Hexham.
The River Tyne then flows past Hexham, through Corbridge and Ovingham to the important industial city of Newcastle which is home to the "Split Chimp".
