What a difference a few years makes! First visit was fine, no complaints at all.
Second visit: It appears that the Queens Head has gone up market reflected in the menu prices. Didn't feel welcome, possibly because we didn't turn up in a Range Rover or similar vehicle. (There was quite a few of those outside). Friendly village local? I don't think so.

Visited this pub today with family who live locally. Both my Husband and I had the steak and mushroom pie. We asked if we could have roast potatoes instead of new and after consulting with the Chef was told 'just this once'. When the large meal came the puff pastry top on mine was burnt. 'The steak' must have come from the oldest toughest cow ever. Mine had a huge piece of gristle in it which I had to spit into my napkin. It was awful. The green beans it was served with weren't so much al dente but undercooked. The middleaged waitress really didn't want to be there and had no idea how to serve and talk to customers. This could be an amazing place but boy do they need to get their act together.

Came across this pub whilst holidaying in Suffolk, Lots of choices on the menu, but as the four of us had been at the seaside for most of the day, we all had a craving for Fish and Chips.
When it came there were gasps as the fish was huge, beautifully presented with a large bowl of fresh salad, home made tartar sauce, home cut chips and peas.
It all tasted as good as it looked, nobody left a crumb and all agreed they had never had fish and chips as good as these.
Highly reccomened.

This is a local really, have been coming here on and off for 40 years. My brother lives in Wenhaston. I've got on with all the landlords, but it's true to say the latest really has got the food sorted out. I've been once recently, and just booking to go again.

Talking with the landlady, they were pursuaded by Adnams to come to this pub, showing the brewery thinks to invest in this place. They have strong ideas about growing and rearing their own food, which is right up my street.

Popped into the Queens Head at Blyford on Monday...Wow what a difference from 2 months ago!

My wife and I had the Cod and Chips...it was absolutely gorgeous the cod was definitely fresh and the chips were actually hand cut...not seen that for years.

There was a table next to us eating and they had steak and it looked superb.

The salad was really nice....the cod and chips could have had Mushy Peas (but that maybe my Northern roots?).

Would not hesitate to recommend the pub for food or drinks as it was a rarely excellent evening...these days they are hard to find and the Queens Head is a real gem.

It looks like they are working on growing their own veg and seem to have some chickens and stuff which look great.

Its my 1st visit with the new landlords in and am pleasantly surprised with how much difference 2 months can make.

Highly reccomended!

Visited this pub and am so glad i did, new landlord and already they seem to have grasped what suffolk is all about......fantastic local grub....not sure what the previous people were like but they were lovely and nothing was too much trouble.

had the fish and chips with adnams beer batter and it was to die for, lovely home made tartare sauce mmmmm!!!

All the food that was coming out lokked lovely and fresh and i couldnt make my mind up, great to see the suffolk cider on tap as well....really made a lovely eating experience.

They even have there own chickens outsie which the kids loved looking at after our meal.....would recommend this place to anyone wanting a proper home cooked meal......made a change compared t other places i have visited recently....10/10.

This was my worst eating experience in my sixty-one years.

I believe that the pub has recently changed hands.

Anyway cod, chips and peas is 10.95, which is 2-4 more than the surrounding pub prices. This would be fine if the food were as good or better. In the event the cod was tiny, half of it was just skin and batter (the flesh seemingly having been removed), and it was dry and overcooked.

At other places, the Wissett Plough and the Huntingfield Arms for example (I have no connection with either but have an interest in good food at sensible prices and a wish to justify the comments in this review), the fish is succulent and large and is, as already stated, on average 3 less.

BEWARE, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. It was my worst eating experience and left me feeling ripped off.

When I discussed the above with the landlord, he was immoveable. As far as he was concerned, everything was fine. There was no suggestion by him that the bill be reduced.

I advised him that I was local and that I would do my best to dissuade others from making the same mistake as myself. This was my prerogative according to the landlord, and so, for the first time ever on a website such as this, I am exercising it.

If you value you taste buds and have a regard for you wallet, DO NOT GO!

The pub itself is very attractive to visitors however the food and owner have a lot to be desired.

I paid for my meal, 78 and change, however the quality was very poor. I complained and the owner and wife argued with me in front of the other customers eating there. Very Rude to me even though I paid up. I expect he thought that I was a Tourist on my hols. Think again!!

Rating for location 5/5 : Food 1/5 : Value for Money 0/5

A big pub inside with a large car parking area. Front overlooks an impressive church. Exposed brick, inglenook fireplaces and "muskets" hanging from the Oak beams.

Adnams Bitter tasted here at (I think) 2.60 a pint. Broadside also on at around 3.00. Quite a long list on the chalk board menu.

Comfortable place.
