There really can be a lot of knöb-head Arsenal / Chelsea fans in here. Plus real ales often poorly kept / bland choices.

Said by some to have the slowest bar service in town.

Usual national-chain pub full of chavs and cretins. Beer is ok though, food is standard big-chain pub microwave meals.

Can be ok but tends to be full of people who appear to have bathed in Lynx, plus the usual Vodascum. Avoid when Newbury races is on as it is crammed with pissed twats who have lost lots of money and want to take it out on you.
Nowt wrong with Arsenal fans.

Great pub,the service was fantastic.Enjoyed the food , shame there isn't a wider choice of Real Ale but lots of lagers-if that's your thing! Didn't see any of the chavs others whinge about but not seen this place on a weekend night. (probably like any other pub that people actually want to go to you won't escape the Chavs.)

Avoid this pub if you hate the following
Chavs Pikeys Chelsea fans Arsenal fans Twats

Great pub! Just on the market square. Can get very busy most evenings. If you love sport then you wil love it here. Not to many chavs contary to previous reviews. Good service, Good beer, has Peroni on Draught defo a bonus point. Good music at what i would say is the correct level. Food is what you would expect from a Pubco!

Truly awful. Thumping music, chavvy customers looking for a fight, rotten beer and food.
Used to be alright until they ripped out all the real ale and put in a pool table and lots of tvs. Avoid, but especially when there's football on.

I was once made to come here when visiting a mate who was living and working in Newbury at the time.
He had showed us a pretty shit weekend so we were all goading him in here as a form of revenge.
Now the mate in question is not exactly a looker. So (probably in a lame attempt to strike up some rapport) we asked a barmaid if she agreed he was ugly.
Rather than diplomatically keeping out of it (and making a mental note that were were a bunch of immature twats) she wholeheartedly and enthusiastically agreed he was a minger, and went as far as to call her colleague over. The colleague confirmed her view and ventured the opinion that "he really doesn't have much going for him".
We thought this was hilarious, until we turned around and realised that we, together with our willing accomplices, had made a grown man cry. Lots of lairy lads were staring and laughing so we put a coat over his head until he stopped sobbing and then left sharpish. He then agreed to drive us to an OK pub in Hungerford.
Happened to be passing yesterday. This pub has a nice location by the canal but is, as one would expect, a horrendous hang out for idiots keen to feed the pubco monster that owns it with their meagre earnings. I will therefore give it the standard 0/10 awarded to such places.

Probably the most popular pub in Newbury as if thats a recommendation. Its not. Expensive and over populated with the check shirt brigade.
|
Too loud for my liking a pub trying to be a nighclub at weekends
|
Fantastic I cannot wait!

Best pub in Newbury...Soon to have a late license which makes a welcome to the local nightclub- Liquid, which is an utter dive
