Tudor Tavern RIP. The "furious buildings work" is over and suddenly we have a new restaurant: Thai Square. As others have remarked, there are 3 other Thai places within a minute's walk, so if there is a market to sustain all this oriental eating, only time will tell. Thai Square does have a bar at one end, but in no way can this building be considered a pub any more.

Furious buildings work is currently in progress. I guess the Tudor's days as a pub have already passed, but we shall soon find out!

I liked this pub it used to have a real buzz, I dont understand why anyone thinks we need another Thai restaurant (or indeed restaurant of any variety)in its place. Not impressed.

Yes it's closed. An application has gone in to turn it into a Thai restaurant. (Even though there are THREE other Thai places within 1 minute's walk!!!)

Seems to have closed down. No notice in the window to explain what's going on.

always enjoyed this place and 'foreign' barmaids are always cracking! both in terms of friendliness, skills and appearances. But has this recently changed hands?? Went in there last week and it was totally dead.. I was the only customer for nearly an hour and didn't recognise anyone behind the bar

Sorry sorry sorry, I take it all back! Bombardier and Old Speckled Hen are back on again. What a relief. And Bombardier at 2.40 a pint is pretty good value. Thank you, Tudor Tavern!

that flaming pop quiz is back again, so if you're thinking of going for a quiet meal on a Tuesday night, forget it.....

Where has the beer gone?! I'd just got used to popping in here for a pint or two of Bombardier or Old Speckled Hen. Popped in again this week, but only John Smiths was available. V disappointing.

I drinks here with my friend Graham. Nice bar staff who will mind your lap top and jacket if you ask nicely. Great toilets, solid seat, enough room in the cubicle, soft toilet paper.

This is the friendliest pub I have known in St Albans and the only one I can go in where the bar man really does know your name. Worth a visit for a nice pint of bombardier and lack of annoying youngsters.

Not been in here, not met anyone who goes in there. In fact Im not sure its there at all?

I'm warming to this place, especially now that Bombardier is available. It's a big place so needs a lot of customers to get a good vibe, but they manage it most evenings.

Really good atmosphere on a Friday evening. The doormen are OK, they're only doing their job. Not sure about the rest of the week, but overall this is an OK place.

Big place, solid boozer. Quite expensive, shows the footie on a big screen - busy those nights. Otherwise pretty average, doormen at weekends for some reason.
