Good menu, decent food and great garden in the summer(although they could do with providing some shade for the more delicate customers!)
Service a bit slow, even on a weekday lunchtime.

The King Harry, St Albans

Had Sunday lunch there as a group and many of us were disappointed. The vegetarian option was not available - but they didn't tell us until they had started serving some of the other meals. No fizzy mineral water available or hot chocolate or decaff coffee, both on the dessert menu. No children's menu although they have a "family room" and selection of toys and they weren't prepared to provide a small portion of anything. Food was unspectacular and service slow.

The Hogget, Hook Common

We ate here as a group of 7 for a friend's birthday. Food was great and made from locally sourced, seasonal ingredients; restaurant prices but excellent quality so good value for money. Service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. They were happy to cater for complicated dietary requirements and didn't even encourage us to leave when all the other customers had gone home!
We'll definitely be going back.
