Southern Cross, Watford

Yes, an OK pub with some splendid beers - and how good it is to find Theakston's Mild is one of the regular beers. Is it worth it's place in the current Good Beer Guide? Possibly - maybe certainly in the context of the availabilty of decent beer in Watford!

Fishery Inn, Boxmoor

My experiences at this pub have been mixed: once or twice good, pleasant service; but, a very casual and care-less attitude, three times. So, now, I spend my money elsewhere!

Isn't it all dependent upon the quality of the management? - anywhere?

The Full House, Hemel Hempstead

Some JD Wetherspoon pubs are very well designed and are also run by attentive staff who seem to care about good beer and good service - that's why they get into The Good Beer Guide. Sadly, this JD's is not one of those, and it will need a more committed management team before it can even hope to become one of the better branches of a good pub chain!

But, because there are lots really dreadful pubs in Hemel and the Full House is a bit better than them, I can't score this one less than 5!
