Lansdowne Arms, Calne

Very impressed with the food at The Landsdowne Arms! It's not cheap but it's well worth it.

The staff were very attentive and the service was very quick and efficient.

The only criticism would be the decor, which is quite dull and in need of updating to match the high standards set by the staff and the food.

Highly recommended, I shall be going back!

The Millstream, Marden

I feel that I must write and let people know about my visit to the Millstream in an attempt to warn others not to bother, learn from my mistake!
The pub was practically empty on a lovely summers Sunday lunch time...a bit odd I thought...or maybe not once I'd had the full Millstream 'experience'. What I'd ordered hadn't been on the menu but the assuming landlady had obveously already placed me on her 'customer type' scale and had guessed what I wanted to order. It wasn't what I or my friend particulary wanted but after a quick look over the very expensive menu we thought it to be a better option...until the amount was rang up on the till and I nearly fell over. So over priced, in fact I think the prices were made up! I was too shocked to say anything and thought that the food must be exceptional so worth it. Don't be fooled, it was below average!

Oh...and don't order anything not exactly as it states on the menu as not to 'upset the chef...you know what they are like'......??

I was taken a back by the whole experience, I felt hurried (for no reason, the place was empty), ripped off and still pretty hungry when I left. It's such a shame that in such a lovely village the local pub can't be utilised as it should, I certainly won't be revisiting in a hurry!
