I am delighted to report that the Greenfield reopened in October 2011. It is a far better pub now than it has been in the recent past, and was pleasingly busy with an older crowd and good atmosphere on my last visit. I've also sampled the Sunday lunch carvery, which was magnificent, but I would recommend booking as it is very popular. Only one slight negative for some, is the fact that there is only one real ale pump.

This is a bit of a rough and ready pub. You won;t find any home cooked food or real ale here! What you will find is a busy pub with a lot of characters in the bar, a bit ike an alternative Wetherspoons during the day!
There is a quieter and more relaxing lounge area, where there is often a bit of an older and less boisterous crowd of an evening.

Plough and Harrow, Murton
The dingy dump across the road has, fortunately, shut down. The Plough remains a reasonable pub, a good choice of food, some well kept real ales and some nice outdoor seating for the good weather.
The upper and lower bars are quite different in character, perhaps hardly surprising as I was told the upper bar was once the landlord's living room in times past!
