The Wheatsheaf Inn, Borrowby

Stopped here yesterday (a Sunday) on the way down from a night out in Durham. What a lovely warm (except the fire wasn't on) friendly welcoming pub! The two of us stopped for their sunday lunch - a great plate-full! Good local beers and of course Tetley. Well worth coming off the A19 to find it.

The Red Lion, Kings Heath

A very good pub for a Friday/Saturday evening drink. Non-smoking areas are a bonus, but the one towards the back doesn't seem to work. The beers are good, variable selection of real ales and lagers. The wines are vast too for a chain pub.

The Case is Altered, Five Ways

It's difficult to rate this pub. One the one hand, it'd make the perfect local (it's not my local), superb ale, very friendly atmosphere, relaxing. But on the other hand (as I found out) not somewhere that's particularly suited to taking a date (unless she likes real ale - in which case BONUS!). Wine is not one of their specialities, served from individual 175ml bottles. I loved this pub, even if she didn't.
