The Jolly Gardners, Putney

Popped in yesterday to try the roast. Used to drink in this pub years ago when it first got refurbed to look like the other gastro pubs in Putney. Ordered two roast beefs and was told it was going to take about half an hour. While it was cooking I decided to pop out and leave my friend there. While out received a phone call stating the food was served. So I had to hurry back to my meal. The plate looked amazing but on closer inspection there were a few flaws. There was hardly any meat on the plate and the potatoes weren't even roasted (jacketed and presumably seasoned).

The pub has a nice atmosphere and the staff seem nice. Just need to improve their roast a bit. Good selection of beer and wines.

The Tea Clipper, Knightsbridge

Went with a mate of mine for a nice meal in the afternoon. At first the nachos were quite nice but when the mains came over it was appalling. Burger and chips served in a bowl with a bun straight out of Iceland. No presentation and no garnish. Stale chips so bad that we didn't even finish our beers. Shame really as we spent thirty quid on what we thought was a proper gastro pub. Won't be going there in a hurry.

The Hurlingham, Fulham

The last comment has inspired me to write about our previous christmas party. We expected fifty people to turn up and when a hundred arrived there was no issues. The service was impeccable and the food was exceptionable at the price which was given. We are now holding a summer staff party at the Hurlingham as it is such a great venue. So pleased there is such a decent pub in the area.
