What a wonderful pub!

I visited it on Saturday evening and was most disapointed that hardly anyone else was there.

The new barman was very good and chatty, the food is pricey but the head chef is an award winner and in Le Routiers. The beer is good but i'd like to see a local beer or micro brewerys offerings on the pump.

the inside of the pub is amazing, with the bar set in the middle and loads of interesting things covering all the walls and every surface filled. dogs are welcome but they will be taught there place by the bossy pub cat, who will swipe any dog walking past.

The George and Dragon, Fordwich

The george and dragon is one of those pubs which is always changing, and true to form they are shuting for yet another company to take over and do yet another refit and change to the menu.
It will be shut until mid March time.

I don't go to the G & D for the good food (it's better with the new manager, than with the previous one) or I don't go for the okay beers, (normally has 2 guests plus directors) and i dont go for the ever changing staff, which always seem very nice and friendly but I go because its a good reliable all rounder, a big enough pub not for you to be squashed (unlike lots of the Canterbury pubs) but cosy enough to make you feel homely, but what I really go for is to see such legends as 'Bob the log' and John. This is what makes this good pub great.

The Parrot, Canterbury

Another great session at Simple Simons. The very best beer Canterbury has and a very good range. Don't agree with the last posting that the guy running it is a wally, anything but! He makes sure the beer is top rate, the food is good and hearty, the place is clean, he works very long hours, and is always courtious and polite. He is no wally, but a very good manager.
