The Red Lion, Stodmarsh

What a wonderful pub!

I visited it on Saturday evening and was most disapointed that hardly anyone else was there.

The new barman was very good and chatty, the food is pricey but the head chef is an award winner and in Le Routiers. The beer is good but i'd like to see a local beer or micro brewerys offerings on the pump.

the inside of the pub is amazing, with the bar set in the middle and loads of interesting things covering all the walls and every surface filled. dogs are welcome but they will be taught there place by the bossy pub cat, who will swipe any dog walking past.

visit this pub.

The George and Dragon, Fordwich

The george and dragon is one of those pubs which is always changing, and true to form they are shuting for yet another company to take over and do yet another refit and change to the menu.
It will be shut until mid March time.

I don't go to the G & D for the good food (it's better with the new manager, than with the previous one) or I don't go for the okay beers, (normally has 2 guests plus directors) and i dont go for the ever changing staff, which always seem very nice and friendly but I go because its a good reliable all rounder, a big enough pub not for you to be squashed (unlike lots of the Canterbury pubs) but cosy enough to make you feel homely, but what I really go for is to see such legends as 'Bob the log' and John. This is what makes this good pub great.

The Parrot, Canterbury

Another great session at Simple Simons. The very best beer Canterbury has and a very good range. Don't agree with the last posting that the guy running it is a wally, anything but! He makes sure the beer is top rate, the food is good and hearty, the place is clean, he works very long hours, and is always courtious and polite. He is no wally, but a very good manager.

The Plough and Harrow, Tilmanstone

Sheps pub with a decent enough pint. The pub is ok and everyone is polite enough, but it's just not homely, somethings missing and I just can't put my finger on what.

The Shipwrights Arms, Faversham

What a great place, quirky good honest pub which is set by Faversham creek. Various real ales from local micro brewerys. lovely on a summers day when you can sit outside on the waters edge and watch the world go by, or a cosy pub during the cold months when the fire is roaring. Well worth the drive

The Hare and Hounds, Northbourne

Went there for their beer festival. great vibe on that night, mostly because of a kicking band, and meeting a lot of my friends that had come over from the nearby Yew Tree pub for the night. A realy good night had by all.....helped by far too much Biddendens!

The George Inn, Newnham

What a lovely place with a busy happy vibe. Good place to eat. Worth a drive too. This is my Daughters favorite place to eat mussels! and at the age of five and will eat fish or seafood most days and in a lot of pubs and resturants this is quite an award!, and I tend to agree with her.

The Sun, Faversham

Always used to be my old haunt. Good pub for meeting friends in. Or good midweek when its not too busy and can chat to friends not have to shout. I used to like sitting in front of the fireplace at the front, have now changed to other pubs, but is a great building in a easy to find area.

The Bear Inn, Faversham

Great Sheps boozer, great session pub, cosy victorian layout with the various rooms. One of my favorites if you must drink Sheps.

Blakes, Dover

Good prices for good beer, great food fresh and quality ingredents. A place to eat and have a pint or two, not a session pub. Chavs should stay well clear of this place and leave this pub to people that are more discerning.

The Parrot, Canterbury

The best pub in Canterbury. Pricey at 3.70 for a biddendens, but im just glad they serve it. Only bettered in the area by the Yew Tree at Barfrestone, but if you dont want the drive this is the best around.
What a good pub should be.

The Canterbury Tales, Canterbury

okay, but what has happened to the Tales of old. If you remember Steve and Billy of years ago and a banging packed to the max pub its nothing like this! Shame but good beer.

The Mermaid, Bishopsbourne

A clean nice pub to take granny too, okay sheps beer in a lovely setting, quaint and inoffence.

The Yew Tree Inn, Barfrestone

one of the best pubs in kent, a true pub in the country which hasn't been taken over by food, but at the same time Heathers homemade chips, which are potatoes what she will wash and cut up for chips infront of you are just heaven. Sunday Roasts are also the best in the area, using free range meats, but you will have to book as its packed.

Great mix of people, a thinking persons pub, the barman Rob is able to talk about anything, as he works the bar. From Mods and Hippies to a tory pilot, to a marxist farmer! everyone gets on in a happy vibe.

Charlies beer is always first rate, the best in the area by far, he keeps four real ales, and has two which are local, plus a mild, and two real ciders. Parking can be a problem when it's busy, like on a sunday, or when its a Thursday and a band is playing

bands include The Fling, and The Fat River Band, and plenty more quality acts, no cheese here.

A top pub, but lacks a garden and better parking. hard to find but worth it. Lucky Barfestone residents that dont have it drive then chance the parking.
