The Endurance, Soho

Fair comment that there are a few Nathan Barley types - but Guinness is as good as you will get in London.

Gets a bit crowded but the patrons are friendly, the juke box is a plus, and its cheaper than most places in the vicinity.

All in all not a bad place for a post work pint or three. Even better if you can get a seat!

The North One, Islington

Please ignore the review from 6 Feb...the fact that this reviewer is talking about 'working class' folk and 'inebriated patrons' shows you just what a cloistered life Stonch must have led. Inebriated patrons in a pub - heaven forbid!

The staff are subperb, the food is delicious, the patrons are the friendliest bunch you could hope to meet.

And the fact that its 'working class' can only be applauded in an area filled with moronic wannabes.

This is a true pub and quite frankly it's all the better off for not having class warriors such as Stonch as regulars...(good luck to the Tories in the local election Stonch!)

There is a fine selection of beers for all tastes and the wine list is surprisingly long and reasonable.

I would have rather not have felt the need to write this review since i like the fact the North One is generally quiet - it's one of my refuges - and in many ways i'd like to keep it quiet. Sadly i felt obliged to write this following Stonch's comments which are totally unfair.

Go and try the place out for yourself - and for those you not familiar with the 'working classes' - if nothing else it will be an education!

The Green Man, Denham

I have to admit that i had some delicious ales here once or twice, and the setting is superb. Denham Village is a lovely little place - one feels as if you have just travelled back in time!

However, I must complain about the staff's attitude. The staff have a strange look about them and I have seen the older members of staff gossip about what appear to be regulars. It's hardly an iviting atmosphere and ruins a perfectly fine pub.

When me and the wife go to pubs we want to feel welcome - not on edge. Sadly the Green Man is as welcoming as a Turkish prison - talking of which i was surprised to hear so many foreign accents seemingly emenating from the kitchens!

All in all i would strongly urge those people with any degree of sophistication to stay away. The beer may be ok but the people make you feel uncomfortable. Its a shame really....I would, however, strongly recommend just about any other pub in the village. Also the food reminded me of school dinners - and the memorably bad ones at that.
