The Ardingly Inn, Ardingly

Treated my Aunt and Uncle to a meal out on a Saturday and I am extremely surprised this pub was not busier!
The pub has a nice ambience and friendly bar staff, we ate in the cosy restaurant which has a homely feel. The food was faboulous, real home cooked food and it was cooked well with generous portions and clean plates all round. Varied selection and specials on as well so wide choice available. Additionally they had wine specials on at a very reasonable price and they were both excellent and served correctly.
Finally top marks to the waitress for whom nothing was too much trouble and very efficient, timely and pleasant service.
PS: I may have to delete this review from this site so nobody else discovers this little gem!

The Red Lion, Handcross

Concur with previous comment re ambience of the pub, large olde worlde, beams and open fires and majority of it at the moment non-smoking, it is a lovely place for a drink. The menu has good choice and dishes and specials on board sound attractive, if only the reality had lived up to it! We chose from the specials board and my food was tasteless and bulked out with masses of cheap salad, my husband's dish was also tasteless and incorporated lumps of meat and strange vegetables that you would not expect to see! Albeit a quite Thursday evening, the one barman working gave indifferent and slow service, the waitress however was very pleasant although was wise enough not to ask if we had enjoyed our meals! A great pub let down by the standard of it's food.
