The Hangleton Manor, Hangleton

After spending almost a million pounds on the refurbishment The Hangleton Manor sadly seems to have been made worse. No longer a traditional country pub with a good range of ale- now it is an unappealing restaurant with a bar. Ale range has been reduced (now only Badger Beers) and prices increased. On the plus side there is plenty of parking.

The Martha Gunn, Brighton

This place was my local for 12 months and sadly I have nothing good to say about it. The management were obnoxious and the ale poorly kept. If in the area I would recommend giving this one a miss and visiting The Bugle Inn which is round the corner.

The Swan Inn, Falmer

The Swan Inn has about 2,500 students living on its doorstep and still it closes in the afternoon. Although obviously not an astute businessman, the owner certainly knows how to maintain a traditional country pub. The ales are always of a great quality and the food is typical pub fare. The staff seem pleasant enough if a little slow at serving customers.
