The Temple Inn, Liss Forest

The previous licensees left, after what I understood to be a less than good relationship with Fullers' area manager regarding opening times. First impressions are not necessarily reliable, but they can be significant. The HSB was OK, but I was less than impressed by paying 80p. for a 25g. packet of crisps, marked 'Not to be sold separately' and probably bought from Tesco at £1.50 for six.

The White Horse, Downton

I visited today with my disabled wife, having first confirmed the pub was accessible. It was fairly busy for a weekday lunchtime. The welcome was warm, the beer (West Berkshire Good Old Boy) excellent. Food was fairly priced and we didn't have to wait too long. There was a spacious disabled toilet and ramp access to the back door. All in all a good visit - I would gladly call again.

The Royal Exchange, Bordon

At last: Lindford has a pub again. A year after closure the Exchange has been bought from the 'pubco' which owned it by a small specialist operator, Red Mist Leisure Ltd. It has been thoroughly refurbished and transformed. Four real ales from small/braft brewers. Food not cheap but of excellent quality. Staff friendly and helpful. I've been waiting and hoping for this since I moved to the village eight years ago. Even the telephone number has changed to 01420 488118 - no more premium numbers!
