The Fox Cub, Spennymoor

More for families wanting food than drinkers but up to date and clean. Good is quite a bargain.

The Colpitts Hotel, Durham

A real throwback to an earlier age.

15 Apr 2020 07:19

The Anerley Arms, Anerley

Went in on a couple of afternoons recently. Very clean and largely quiet and peaceful with well kept Sam Smiths. Loses a couple of points on the smell of fat that rather pervaded.

Euston Tap, Euston

Great little pub with some quality beers, good and helpful staff - ask them for what you want and you'll get it. I asked for something flavoursome and got a lovely pint. Would be a 10 if the loos were better but there is so little space...

20 Nov 2014 16:03

The Fox on the Hill, Denmark Hill

Very well kept beer, decently cooked food although bored with the Wetherspoons menu. Serving staff leave a bit to be desired, although they are obliging when they do serve you and get the order right. Decent working class locals and overall a good experience.

24 Jul 2014 08:45

Whelans, Surrey Quays

Visited for the first time yesterday - Tuesday night. Not many people in but seemed friendly enough. Decent pint.

5 Mar 2014 11:32

Three Pigeons, Halifax

Pleasant historic interior and well kept beers. Don't know why previous reviewer thought it wasn't clean because it was when we were there.

30 Aug 2013 17:04

The Pump Room, Halifax

Pleasant pub with fine selection of real ales. Clean

30 Aug 2013 16:59

The Sun Inn, Bethnal Green

Now closed - possibly temporarily

21 Jul 2013 08:39

The Lord Southampton, Kentish Town

Good quality locals boozer with great character and pleasant landlady. Old school interior and well kept real ale although not much choice.

17 Jun 2013 10:49

The White Swan, Edgbaston

I went in one Sunday afternoon and had two lovely pints, pleasantly served an in a clean and comfortable environment. The barman chilled the glasses too, so I give the top marks. I didn't think the prices were exceptional for a very well heeled part of Brum.

25 Mar 2013 22:42

Willow Grove, Southport

Not a bad pub

13 Nov 2012 14:43

Old Post Office, Royston

Now called the Ol Crown I called n here on Friday lunchtime. Not much of a welcome from the landlord and the service was slow. The pint of Lager I had was on the turn - not sour but not far off. The place was full of women with toddlers, a mothers meeting or a break for 'mother's little helper' I don't know. When the food arrved it was good and the waiter was plasant.

13 Nov 2012 14:23

The Liverpool Arms, Chester

Decent gay local with pleasant staff and customers.

6 Sep 2012 07:43

The Lifeboat, Margate

Great pub for ales and my companion and I nearly missed the train back home because of it. Well worth a visit. Didn't sample the food.

13 Aug 2012 00:05

The China Hall, Surrey Quays

Went here to watch a football match. Nice pub, nice garden, decent pint good atmosphere.

15 Apr 2012 18:58

The Surrey Docks, Surrey Quays

Reading other reviews you'd think this place was the inner circle of hell. It's not. It is an average Wetherspoons with a mainly older clientelle. Food is fine and clientelle and staff are friendly. Beer well kept.

15 Apr 2012 18:53

Kings Arms, Barrow In Furness

Lively youthful town centre pub

29 Mar 2012 19:13

Brewers Fayre, Barrow in Furness

Excellent value for money on both food and drink

29 Mar 2012 19:11

The Boat Inn, Catherine De Barnes

Decent pint here. Comfortable seats

29 Mar 2012 18:32

The Garden House, Edgbaston

Average ordinary chef and brewer with decent hand pulled beer

29 Mar 2012 18:30

The Black Horse Hotel, Preston

Well preserved victorian boozer - thought it was only vertical drinking until I discovered the snugs.

13 Dec 2011 20:52

Robin Hood Inn, Barrow in Furness

Spotlessly clean town centre pub with some wonderful christmas decorations- over the top as they should be. Landlord here knows that good quality drinks in spotless surroundings are the begining not the end.

13 Dec 2011 20:45

Healeys, Barrow in Furness

The landlord here clearly knows about beer and cleaning, and puts his knowledge into practice. However he doesn't know that people come to pubs because they are perhaps a bit more comfartable than their homes. If he could put some heat on during the winter perhaps more people would go. I had to keep my coat on the other night and that was hardly adequate.

13 Dec 2011 20:43

The Furness Railway, Barrow In Furness

Decent Weatherspoons better than the average.

13 Dec 2011 20:40

Cross Keys Hotel, Barrow in Furness

Not a bad boozer but seemed to be less real ale when I called. Clean and reasonable.

13 Dec 2011 20:39

The Royal Oak, Borough

OK pub with different rooms. Real beers very well kept but prices very much on the high side for a back street boozer.

23 May 2011 11:31

The Rake, London Bridge

Tiny little real ale pub that packs the beers in. Lots of choice, although pricey, but well kept and pleasantly served.

23 May 2011 11:21

The Land of Liberty, Peace and Plenty, Heronsgate

This pub has to have a five until I can go to sample the prestigious range of ales on offer. Went in with a non drinking friend and ordered soft drinks including lemonade which was completely without fizz. Worth a trip back to see if the beers are better but this is certainly not the place to go unless you aren't driving.

3 May 2011 06:55

The Circus Tavern, Manchester

Charming 'proper' pub selling beer very well, although not big on hand pulled. Friendly guv'nor and locals get an 8 for making a pleasant atmosphere out of the two small rooms and waiter service most welcome. Even when waiting for BestMate to finish his drink did not feel under pressure to buy another.

22 Mar 2011 23:42

The Birkbeck Tavern, Leyton

A very clean pub with well kept real beers. Pleasant, friendly staff (including the guv'nor) and regulars make this a great pub for a drink with just the right amount of livliness. A brilliant find and I'll be back.

6 Mar 2011 18:54

The Haverstock Arms, Belsize Park

I had some of the best roast beef I've ever had in here

18 Feb 2011 09:53

Sir Henry Segrave, Southport

Not a bad weatherspoons - staff friendly if slow and beer kept well. Food is OK.

25 Jan 2011 19:25

The Equator, Birmingham

Pleasant pub on a Sunday afternoon- slightly older crowd.

22 Nov 2010 16:05

Dragon Inn, Birmingham

Went in on early sunday afternoon with a friend. No Ruddles for Sunday club but guest pint was fine. No stuffing balls with roast chicken - I was told politely that they had run out. They also had a 25 minute wait for food when the pub was half empty. All that said the food was nice when it arrived but the lack of availability of food and drink and a long wait rates a five.

22 Nov 2010 16:02

The Brockley Barge, Brockley

Pleasant and polite staff when I went in for a meal on Friday, somewhat meagre portions though. But oh the clientelle! I know wetherspoons can attract the real dregs of the market but this was lower than low. I've never had a knife (even a dinner knife) suggested that it should be thrown at me in a pub before. It happened here. Avoid at all costs.

13 Nov 2010 23:42

The William Aylmer, Harlow

Went in with a friend for lunch and after a few hours sightseeing for beer. Beer was excellent and the food is of a good standard. No problem with the decor and the fact it's in a tower block - Harlow is a new town after all.

One of the better Wetherspoons

7 Nov 2010 11:37

The Churchill Hotel, Ambleside

I found a pleasant if slow barman here when I went in with a friend for lunch. About the only place in Ambleside we could get in. Food average and beer OK. Doesn't seem to cater for tourists.

11 Oct 2010 12:09

Pommelers Rest, Tower Bridge

Agree about the pricey pints but the quality of beer and food is usually good. Looses points on the rating for prices though.

11 Oct 2010 12:04

The Florist, Bethnal Green

not bad little pub with some well kept real ales.

11 Oct 2010 12:01

The Capitol, Forest Hill

Went in on a weekday lunchtime for a pint and a salad. Efficient service, clean tables in a fantastic building. Food and beer OK too.

11 Oct 2010 11:53

Postal Order, Crystal Palace

Small Wetherspoons with indifferent staff, although not rushed off their feet. food meagre in quantity and not well cooked. Table not cleared of previous meal's debris until my food arrived although waitress appologetic. Beer was fine though and Sunday club included all the guest beers.

11 Oct 2010 11:46

The Brushmakers Arms, Upham

Came here with a friend to eat lunch. The beer was of excellent quality and the food equally good. Genial barman who greeted us, and said goodbye very pleasantly. Only complaint (which nobody can do anything about) was it was a bit cramped at a very small table for two. But this says something for the pub's popularity!

All in all a well deserved good rating.

7 Jun 2010 15:30

The Sun Inn, Bethnal Green

Really nice pub with well kept real ales. Good service too.

20 Apr 2010 11:16

Furness Hotel, Barrow In Furness

Closed when I visited April 2010

20 Apr 2010 11:06

Richard I, Greenwich

Nice pub in greenwich

11 Sep 2009 11:23

The Camel, Bethnal Green

popular and decent real ale pub - bit pricey for the area though

11 Sep 2009 11:19

The Green Man, Soho

Average soho boozer - nothing special but nothing bad either. Decent cheap food

11 Sep 2009 11:18

The Station, North Kensington

Had a great evening in the spacious garden here. The staff were very pleasant, and while I agree it's pricey this should keep out the riff raff. BTW it is North Kensington.

8 Aug 2008 11:55

The Mucky Duck, Brighton

By far the best place to get served during recent pride celebrations. Full Marks to the star for the event

6 Aug 2008 11:55

The Danson Stables, Danson Park

Poor service and high prices make this one to avoid. I waited 40 minutes for my food on a Saturday afternoon at 2PM. when it came it was pretty average. Doesn't really make it as a pub or a restaurant but the setting is OK.

28 Jun 2008 18:42

The Quebec Curve, Surrey Quays

Will never go into this pub. Lacking in atmosphere and music is deafening. I like loud music but not a pub that sounds like it should be a 2am nightclub.

3 Apr 2008 13:38

Tudor Barn Eltham, Eltham

Oh my - what a waste of a marvelous location and building. I went in the other day at lunchtime to ask if they did food. I was told (politely) that they didn't do food. The Pleasaunce could do with a restaurant and this seems to be a missed opportunity. I don't really need a boozer in a park.

5 Mar 2008 09:58

Spice Island, Rotherhithe

Horrible pub - indifferent service

30 Jan 2008 12:09

The Anchor Tap, Tower Bridge

Just ordinary and functional pub. Great for meeting friends in a basic and cheap place. You won't have a riotously good time here, but you will be left alone. No danger from drunks or enforced conviviality either
