The Rose and Crown, Worton

Changed hands recently. Not doing food other than filled rolls. Nice pint and very friendly. Great log burner. Pool table. Skittle Alley. TV located out of the way of the bar which is a nice touch. Car Park. Beer Garden. Good locals pub.

The Farmers Arms, Wilmslow

Returned to this pub after an absence of nearly twenty five years. Still a mad place with some real characters and a pretty good pint. Enjoyed a very noisy evening with friends old and new. You could do a lot worse than this place.

The Golden Lion, Port Isaac

Delightful position right above the harbour and very busy. Can't quite think why. Maybe it's the Doc Martin effect. If you're looking for a decent pint, something to eat and maybe service with a smile, go elsewhere.

The Lamb Inn, Urchfont

Cosy locals pub. Decent pint of Wadworths. The pie and chips where exceptional value and really rather good. I shall return...

The Pelican, Devizes

Not a bad pint, I've had worse. Better wildlife than Bristol Zoo.

The Owl, Devizes

The Owl is now open again! But you have to plan ahead as the opening hours are a tad wierd. Best phone and book a pint. Oh yeah, if you're a veggy and want to eat, go somewhere else.

The Fox and Hounds, Devizes

Geoff didn't stay!

Refurbed and now firmly food orientated and who can blame them. But that doesn't mean you can't wander in for a few of an evening. Clean and comfortable. Good skittle alley. Doggy friendly.

The Dolphin, Devizes

Karaoke! Stay away!

The Bell Inn, Devizes

Nothing wrong with this pub. The food is pretty good and not too expensive when compared to other pubs in the area. There's usually a choice of three or four different ales. Friendly welcome. Prompt service. They hold an annual soap box derby outside the pub and that's one hell of an afternoon!
Only downside I can think of is the steepish staircase to climb on the way in so not good for wheelchairs, but hilarious for watching drunks!

The Brewery Inn, Seend

Great little local pub. Good pint of beer and cider. Food is good and not too expensive. A regular stop on my country ramblings. Never been to their cider festival but I hear it's one hell of a day!

The Tipsy Toad, Bulkington

Now has it's old name back. The Well. Big emphasis on the food trade and who can blame them, f**k all profit in beer! Haven't eaten there but I've heard very good things about the food. The landlord shares his name with a certain fine yorkshire bitter which is also for sale behind his bar. Nice pint, well kept and served with enthusiasm.

The Kings Arms, Market Lavington

Closed. Not suprised really. It was a dire place.

The Southgate, Devizes

Comfy friendly pub with some good and changing real ales. Lots of strange foriegn things to drink if you like that sort of thing. Kind of dark and cosey feel to the place. Got a f**cking big cock outside the front door.

The Cornish Arms, Pendoggett

Stayed here for one night. Friendly bunch. Had a couple of very good pints and the Thai food was fine. Not cheap though! Accomodation was very good for a small local pub as was the breakfast. I'd go back there.

The New Inn, Coate

Cracking pint of Wadworths straight out of wooden barrels. Nice sandwiches and baguettes to. I'll be back!

The Crown Inn, Bishops Cannings

This place should get an award. 1st prize for the worst pint of Wadworths IPA (sorry, Henry's IPA, FFS) that I've ever had the misfortune to raise off a bar. Utter shite. The rest of the pub is really very nice. It's a crying shame. I'll try it again sometime.

The Black Horse, Devizes

Ugly staff, indifferent service, fried food, flat expensive beer. It's sad but it's everything we've come to expect from a Wadworths pub.

4 May 2012 16:45

The Four Seasons Public House, Devizes

Noisy lager swilling twat house with nothing to recommend it whatsoever.

4 May 2012 16:43

The Royal Oak, Devizes

Now an antique / furniture / expensive rubbish shop. Oh well...

4 May 2012 16:41

The Tarka Inn, Heanton

Popped in here for a lunchtime pint while out walking the Coastal Path. Nice beer, Snozzell Tribute, and friendly service. Sat outside in the sunshine. Lovley setting by the river. Vast menu with some really yummy sticky sounding puddings!

15 May 2011 21:54

The Village Inn, Lynmouth

Stayed here on Mon 9th May. A funny place to be sure. Not unfriendly or anything bad, just... odd! Room was really nice and comfy. Food, beer and service where all good.

15 May 2011 21:47

Cedars Lodge, Sticklepath

Nice comfy room and a super evening meal. The Greene King IPA and OSH at the bar was quite acceptable. The breakfast was superb. Great service and very friendly for a "hotel eaty pub bar" type of thing. You could do a lot worse than stay here.

15 May 2011 21:40

The Anchor Hotel and Ship Inn, Porlock Weir

Stayed here on Sun 8th May. Cracking comfy bar and a good selection of Snozzell and Exmoor beers. Had a hoooge plate of mussels that where ace. Room was a little tired but then, after walking from Minehead, so where we!

15 May 2011 21:34

The Royal Marine, Combe Martin

Comfy and friendly pub. Very busy so must be doing something right! Cotliegh Barn Owl and Doom Bar. Very nice too. Didn't eat here but the meals arriving on the tables looked good.

15 May 2011 21:28

The Dolphin Inn, Combe Martin

Cracking pub. Friendly folk. Lovley pint of Doom Bar and the Sea Bass was excellent. There's a nice big shiny helmet in the bar to!

15 May 2011 21:23

The Thatch, Croyde

Stayed here on Wed 11th May and enjoyed a great meal and some quality ales : St Austell Tribute and Golden Pig. Room was super, really comfy and although near to the bar it wasn't noisy. The staff and the other customers where all friendly.

15 May 2011 21:19

The Rose and Crown, Worton

Changed hands recently. Friendly local family. Ringwood, Doom Bar and 6X all on handpumps. A selection of bottled beers and wines. Black Rat at your own risk. Good quality pub grub with several vegetarian options. No faffy food. No telly. Well patronised skittle alley. The landlord would like to have live music and I believe there are plans afoot for a beer festival. Things are looking up..!

Black Swan Hotel, Devizes

Is it a Pub? Is it a Hotel? Neither, and yet both, it's an Inn. A pretty good one too! Always had a decent meal here and the beer has been consistently good. Friendly and efficient staff and a well stocked bar. Handy for the Cinema and other town centre attractions which include "market place car park noisy youth cars" and "closing time takeaway fighting". All in all, a value for money establishment.

16 Apr 2011 23:53

The Royal Oak, Devizes

Up for sale. Hopefully it will reopen as a pub, but I wouldn't put money on it. Shame, as it was a decent pint of Lodon Pride and others. Karaoke was an aquired taste but did raise a few laughs!

16 Apr 2011 23:41

The Owl, Devizes

This was an excellent out of the way boozer. I fondly remeber the impromptue juke box quizes! I say was because The Owl is no more and the world is a sadder place for that. The last people to run The Owl now have a pub in Mere, The Butt of Sherry, which is a nice place to have a few and they're great fun, please go and visit them!

16 Apr 2011 23:35

Lamb Inn, Devizes

A legendary pub. Go and have a pint there. Now. Just do it!

16 Apr 2011 23:27

The Hare & Hounds, Devizes

Proper local pub. Good beer and good company. The regulars are easy to identify (which is only as it should be) and are a friendly bunch. You could do a lot worse than visit this place.

16 Apr 2011 23:19

The British Lion, Devizes

Ever changing supply of good quality beers, kept in great condition and served by friendly barstaff. Always someone to talk bollocks with even if you don't know who the hell they are and the juke box has some class stuff.

No telly. No kids. No contest.
