The Three Tuns, Great Abington

Excellent Thai food pub. First class all round. Good variety of real ales and an even better selection of food.
Staff very friendly. Certainly well worth a visit. Great location.

The Kings Head, Sawston

If you aint local, dont bother. Not very welcoming. Bar is littered with chairs making it difficult to move around. Not a good atmosphere.

11 Oct 2011 00:46

The White Lion, Sawston

Total lack of atmosphere, landlord runs around like a headless chicken.
We were the only customers on the lunchtime we visited, and left just as quickly.

11 Oct 2011 00:44

The Dog and Duck, Linton

Awful atmosphere, no food, no customers. I believe under new management, again.

11 Oct 2011 00:40

The Temeraire, Saffron Walden

This is a" Wetherspoons". Always short of staff at busy times.
Fair sized place with plenty of tables both inside and out. Does get busy and turns into a bit of a bun fight for service. If you have been to a Wetherspoons before, then this is no worse or better than the rest.

The Old English Gentleman (OEG), Saffron Walden

Good sunday roast. Fair selection of ale. The waitresses could do with taking smiling lessons. Tad overpriced.

12 Sep 2011 01:00

The Crown Inn, Linton

Excellent sunday roast. Good selection of ale. Staff very friendly and attentive.
Fly infestation on our visit but that did not put off what was a very nice experience.

12 Sep 2011 00:33

The Greyhound, Sawston

Big old fashioned type of boozer. Fair selection of ales. Clean enough.
Advertised food and sunday carvery although never tried.
Good for a drink before hitting the chinese.

12 Sep 2011 00:27

The Black Lion, Glemsford

Pleasant enough little local hostelry. Led to believe that it tends to change hands quite frequently. Nice and clean and welcoming. Food very basic.

15 Jul 2011 01:36

Hogshead, Wolverhampton

Great boozer for the real ale fanatics, wonderful selection of the real stuff. Packed to the rafters whenever we have visited but easy enough to get served. Staff not too friendly, but put that down to them being run off their feet.

28 Jun 2011 10:58

The White Horse, Whepstead

Friendly enough staff, but would rate this as more of an eatery than a watering hole. Nice beer garden and dog friendly. Good pint of ale, never tried the food, tad too expensive for my depleted wallet.

28 Jun 2011 10:52

Marquis Cornwallis, Chedburgh

Good dropping off pub for a drink and something to eat after a day out. Clean and tidy inside, big car park, and dog friendly, which was a bonus for us.
Unable to comment on evening trade.

28 Jun 2011 10:47

The Moon and Starfish, Clacton On Sea

Not the best Wetherspoons we have been to. More packed than most and certainly less staff than most. Impossible to find a seat or table at the weekend.Located on seafront opposite the pier.

17 Jun 2011 02:02

The Old Lifeboat House, Clacton on Sea

Not the biggest of pubs, but at least a pub which is something of a rarity in Clacton. Certainly a locals boozer , but , we were made welcome. Couple of guests ales.

17 Jun 2011 01:59

The Scarlet Pimpernel, Haverhill

This pub is no more, it is berift of life, it is closed.

20 Feb 2011 10:03

The Unicorn Inn, Richmond

Not the most hygenic of pubs, but, the locals were friendly.
Not one for the anniversary.

4 Nov 2010 02:57

The Plumbers Arms, Denston

This pub is no longer open.

2 May 2010 01:49

Under new management and my goodness how this place has gone downhill, fast. Everything from service to food not to be recommended.

2 May 2010 01:31

2 May 2010 01:10

The White Horse, Kedington

And yet again , under new management

26 Feb 2010 06:15

The Royal Exchange, Haverhill

Now under new management and possibly the best pub in town. Very friendly and of course the Aspells cider.
Bar meals available and big screen for footie coverage.
Dionne and brian from the Barnie are the new and capable Governors.

26 Feb 2010 06:07

The White Horse Inn, Withersfield

Great picture postcard pub.
One little bar but a good dining area. A tad overpriced.
Good variety of ale but the attraction for me is the Aspells cider.

14 Aug 2009 02:35

The Rose and Crown Hotel, Haverhill

Once again under new management, this tells its own story.

14 Aug 2009 02:33

The Woolpack, Haverhill

Lively pub frequented mainly by the locals. Very sports orientainted.
Good variety of ales.
Not one for a romantic aniversary .
Good lunchtime food menu.

14 Aug 2009 02:29

The Bull, Haverhill

Attempting to cater for the lunch time business food trade.
Not a great deal of atmosphere.
Good outdoor seating area.
Friday/ saturday night venue for the late revellers.

14 Aug 2009 02:25

The White Hart, Haverhill

The standard of ale is really hit or miss, and generally it is miss. Same with bar staff, some good some downright miserable.
Food is not bad.
This is a friday/ saturday late night music pub so treat it as such.

14 Aug 2009 02:23

The Queens Head, Haverhill

Certainly the best real ale pub in town. Now under new ownership. Prices are low.
The toilets in the beirut bar are still a must see.Dont forget to shower before you leave them.
Good early evening atmosphere. Great place to take the mother in law if you intend to shock.

14 Aug 2009 02:13

The Scarlet Pimpernel, Haverhill

A place to be avoided. No atmosphere, in fact no nothing. Not very welcoming at all.

14 Aug 2009 02:09

Lancs and Yorks, Bamber Bridge

Visited on a Saturday and it was empty. bar person sat on her barstool reading and put out by request to be served.
Disco was being set up so maybe it rocked later on.

14 Aug 2009 01:48

Blue Ball, Bamber Bridge

Waited for several minutes in the bar, no bar person appeared, walked out. One of the regulars informed us that this was a regular occurence that the bar staff could not be bothered.

14 Aug 2009 01:46

Ye Olde Original Withy Tree, Bamber Bridge

Pleasantly surprised with this place. A nice and friendly local. Visited it as we were passing through. Made to feel welcome straight away. Excellent bar staff.Good variety of ale etc.

14 Aug 2009 01:44

The Cricketers, Clavering

What an overpriced sub standard place this turned out to be. Excellent location and old world pub , but that is as good as it gets.
Food was in short supply. Little girl waitresses very unsure of their position or what to do, although they tried. Very disappointed and let down.

17 Sep 2008 05:42

The Victory Inn, Wickham St Paul

Wonderful find this place. Ceratinly worth the drive. Great ales, and Aspells cider, which is always a plus. Good menu. Atmosphere somewhat sterile, but dont be put off by that. This is as good as an English traditional pub gets.

17 Sep 2008 05:33

The Pheasant, Gestingthorpe

Great little pub with with great menu. Just won an award for its restaurant. Houses its own smokery.
Sunday brunch to be recommended. Good treasure of a find this place.

17 Sep 2008 05:27

The William Aylmer, Harlow

I would imagine you would take your life in your own hands going in here after dark.
Frightened us to death going in for breakfast. Most Wetherspoons seem to attract a certain clientelle, but this had more than its fair share.
Breakfast was first class and hot. Service and staff was good.

16 Sep 2008 05:36

Wheatsheaf, Castle Hedingham

Under new management as I write. Nice lunch time pint in a clean but somewhat clinical atmosphere. A few more customers would help the atmosphere.
A very old and wonderful pub with enormous great fireplace inside.

16 Sep 2008 05:30

Wetherspoons, Braintree

Very typical , stereotypical Wetherspoons.
Nice and big inside, good staff, when you can find them. Why do all Wetherspoons sufffer from staff shortages at busy times?
Good start for the evening for cheap ale.

16 Sep 2008 05:26

The Orange House, Newmarket

Very clinical inside. Enormous great place with very little if ant atmosphere.

16 Sep 2008 05:22

The Barnadiston Arms, Kedington

Somewhat of a locals pub, ie if you aint a local you wont fit in.
Poor selection of ciders. Good variety of food.
Staff very warm but the locals leave a lot to be desired.

16 Sep 2008 05:20

The Half Moon, Belchamp St Paul

Excellent thatched roof pub. Tried it for Sunday lunch and found it to be good value for money. Good choice of dishes. Another bonus is the Aspels cider.
Staff very friendly and accommodating.

15 Sep 2008 18:11

The Drabbet Smock, Haverhill

Typical understaffed Wetherspoons. Queing has become a pastime in these establishments. Certainly not family friendly, children shoved in the bag box room to eat.
Food at its best can only be described as edible. Tables very often just left to build up with various empty, plates glasses etc.

14 Aug 2008 02:44

The Red Lion, Steeple Bumpstead

Shame really, so much potential, but what you get is a really pretentious pub, with little or no atmosphere. Have to agree with previous entry re food. You really do expect home cooking from an establishment like this. We as a party, were so dissappointed.

14 Aug 2008 02:36

The Fox and Hounds, Steeple Bumpstead

Wonderful sunday lunch. First rate and so much for so little. Excellent location , nice little beer garden,
