The Fox and Flowerpot, Goldsworth Park

Have recently returned to this pub after not going in for a couple of years. The experience has changed considerably since the last visits. First off - the beer is now drinkable and actually enjoyable. Of course, Sharps Doom Bar has made it onto the menu. The stuffs everywhere. However, Timoty Taylor is also there and a local brewery gets a look in on the third tap. All good on the times I've tried them.
As for the pub itself - changed hands a couple of times I think. There has been a revamp of the clientele also, moving many on I believe.
The big attraction for us - it is dog friendly. Keep them on a lead and take them in, under your control. A big difference to most other pubs here.
Sky TV offers the option to watch the big games of interest too. Will be returning soon!

The Fox and Flowerpot, Goldsworth Park

Improving. This is just about my nearest pub. I've been in twice in the past six months and both times the beer has been excellent. I had the Twickenham Naked Ladies and the Gale Seafarers last night. Both very well kept, served in clean glasses. As we had the dog with us, had to sit outside in the garden. Nice touch - one of the staff offered and brought a bowl of water for him. Will certainly return and hope for a similar positive experience. It was not busy but the more positive reviews they get, the better.

The Gate Inn, Tansley

We had the opportunity to visit this pub while on a walk. Discovered that they have recently reopened. The Nice Weather beer from the Dancing Duck Brewery was fabulous. I did not try the Tim Taylor or 2 other beers, still had miles to walk so had to limit myself. We had a terrific lunch there too, Steak and Ale pie gets top marks. I can't fault anything, so top marks. Good luck to the team at The Gate. See you soon.

The Poachers Arms, Hope

Visited at end Oct 2011. Bombardier on tap which was excellent. Good landlord/ lady - interested in customers and chatty. Pub in good order. Food was terrific, plenty of choice too. We stayed a couple of nights and the room was very good.

The Plough Inn, Hathersage

Stayed for 2 nights in their 'Premium' rooms (converted buildings at the back). Lovely.

Beer choice is excellent - well kept (and I tried them all). Food was tops too.

Will be back for more.

The Ladybower Inn, Bamford

Stayed here for a weekend recently. Great beer and huge food. I can't complain after a tough day of walking. Be warned that there are showers only, no baths, in the accommodation. I had the mushrooms on toast for breakfast...smothered in cheese, these are delicious.

Scotsmans Pack Inn, Hathersage

Stayed overnight here late last year. The beer was good and the food was fine. Only problem was that this pub's has serious attitude problems. As outsideres we were constantly overlooked in favour of the regulars. Not a good advert for them and I'll reflect that in the rating.

Ye Olde Nags Head, Castleton

Stayed overnight here in April. The jacuzzi was a real treat after a tough days walking. We ate at the carvery and thoroughly enjoyed it. Three meats on offer and plenty of vegetable choice. Pleased to report that I managed seconds since it is 'All you can eat'. Beers on offer included Timothy Taylor and Black Sheep. I stayed on the Taylor which was perfect. 8/10 which includes rating on the room.
