The Blue Raddle, Dorchester

Excellent 'Real' Pub, beer selection varies and all are good. Food execellent and good friendly service. I'll not bother to look anywhere else in Dorchester again

The Harrow Inn, Warlingham

Now a Vintage Inn with their standard menu which is fine. It certainly is an improvemt over the burnt offering we had before.

The Coach House ( the bull), Chelsham

A pub I visit on the first Sunday of the month through the warmer months for a Classic Car / American Car / Hot Rod / Custom Car breakfast. Everyone is welcome and the breakfast is great. Too early in the day for beer so cannot comment. Friendly with good atmosphere and servic.

The Cock Inn, Headley

Well it is back to the Cock now a Red Mist gastro thing - its not a pub any more. Over staffed, hence the very high priced food? with a strange menu. My wife had a Seabass with 'cruched' potatos (what wrong with real mash - this is lumpy mash like old school dinners) and a weird suace that overwhelmed everything else. Sorry it is to be Dead Missed for me. As a driver I had a watery orange juice and lemonade - heaven knows what they do to the beer......

The Plough, Upper Dicker

Our favourite pub when we visit the area. Excelent food, beer and service. Best to reserve a table if you want a meal at the weekend it is very very popular.

The Horse and Groom, Alresford

Bland soulless interior, strange menu, expensive, slow service and small portions. We went into the open area at the rear and watched a rat wandering around, when reported to the bar staff they just said 'oh we've had a problem with those.............'. My friend ordered a diet coke and the soft drinks mixer wasnt working correctly (no gas). Definitley will be going elsewhere when I return to Alresford.

The Jolly Farmer, Horley

Excelent pub which I visit with two different car clubs. In the summer the Ford club meet and the field alongside is packed. The service is good even with large crowds. But I hope the kitchen which has been closed until recently is soon functioning again. Beer is good and well kept.

Wheatsheaf, West Wickham

We have lunched in the Wheatsheaf twice now and the food is excellent and very cost effectively priced. Service excellent and very friendly. Beer good and well kept. you have to get in early as it is very popular for all the right reasons.

The Spotted Dog, Dorking

We visited Dorking yesterday and because of traffic chaos due to roadworks parked in the public car park nearly opposite the Spotted Dog. After finishing our shopping we had lunch in the Dog as it looked inviting and indeed it was. The staff were efficient, friendly and welcoming and the food form a straightforward menu excellent with good sized portions. The Spotted dog will be our preferred lunch stop when we visit again.

The Pilgrim, Dorking

When in Dorking there is no other pub for me. Friendly, great service easy parking, excellent food, comfortable, relaxed and Rugby on the TV not football!! At first sight the food looks expensive but the portions are large, the food very high quality and well cooked. The local high class butcher was delivering as we left after a long lunch.

Dog and Duck, Outwood

Unlike 'redarrel' who seems more interested in decoration and layout I appreciate excellent friendly service, good beer and simple food well done - all of which are at the Dog and Duck. But then with a name that harps back to the terrible Grotneys Keg beer what else would you expect Go here its good.

The Duke of York, Tunbridge Wells

Somehow we always walked past the Duke of York, can't explain why. But yesterday after looking in vain in the Pantiles for a simple lunch we went in and realised what we had been missing. Good Beer (Doom Bar) good simple food - excellent Wild Boar Sausage and Mash. Excellent very friendly and helpfull service and good value - we will be back.

The Blue Ship, The Haven

A great little pub - a real pub - good food good beer (Badger) turned up on spec for a late Sunday lunch and despite being very busy good service and friendly. Excellent pork roast. Highly recommended if you like a real pub. No bar the service is via a single hatch / come barn door. If you want London Plastic wine bars please stay away.

18 Sep 2011 18:05

The Cricketers Arms, Wisborough Green

Turned up on spec on a Saturday evening and despite a full pub they brought out a spare table for three strangely dressed men (we had been to the Goodwod Revival). Quite simply superb and friendly service. Limited menu (good thing) excellent portions fast and friendly service and a good pint of Ringwood.

18 Sep 2011 12:25

The Green Man, Horsted Keynes

Visited again last week and as usual everything from the food to beer to service was excellent. Especially worthy of note as this was a quiet mid week lunchtime after the schools were back. Excellent ham ploughmans. We will definitely be returning

The Harrow Inn, Warlingham

oh dear a Vintage Inn that is far from the best. A bad start as you smell burnt food as you walk from the car park. Service was pleasant and the waitress very good. Beer ok London Pride for me. But the food was slow to arrive although it was not busy on a wet Tuesday lunch time. My wifes fish cakes smelt burnt and left a burnt after taste, although they were not burnt. Perhaps they need to change the cooking oil a little more often? And what the heck is a 'Wilted Salad' warm lettuce.... Too big a menu. Do fewer things well - its a simple formula.

The Blue Anchor, Tadworth

The best thing about the Blue Anchor is the car park its always empty - (doesn't that tell you something) - use it when the Dukes Head car park is full and walk 100yds back..... This is a complete disaster of a pub. If you want a real pub there are plenty around, if you want gastro try the Grumpy Mole. What bemuses me is that the Arkle Manor is under the same ownership and is warm and friendly everything the Blue Anchor used to be.

The Arkle Manor, Betchworth

Went on new years day without booking. Despite being busy staff were efficient and friendly and found us a table that we had to be clear of by 2:30 not a problem and its nice to know if there are any limits. Ordered Pizzas and they were excellent and service was good. It is a sign of a good restaurant - this is no longer a 'pub' that a spilled drinks disaster on an adjacent table was handled brilliantly and with good humor at a very busy time and one customer ended up wearing an Arkle Manor shirt!! One warning the Bitter Beer is served too cold - a minor winge but another sign this is no longer a pub.

The Palmer Flatt Hotel, Wensleydale

A mixed experience, beer and food ok but nothing wonderful

19 Jul 2009 17:10

Unicorn Hotel, Ripon

We went to Ripon, but most of it was shut, closed down or derelict. We searched for a pub to eat at lunchtime after visiting the Cathedral with no luck at the first three or four. But in desperation we tried the Unicorn, a mixed experience but seeing the Rotary Club plaque we thought it worth a gamble. The beer was tolerable and as it was lunchtime it was quiet. We ordered food and after a very long wait it arrived and was superb.

19 Jul 2009 17:07

The Buck Inn, Malham

One of my favorite pubs, worth traveling to at any time. Excellent menu very fairly priced and great food that arrives with quick friendly service. I rarely go for Old Peculiar but here it is very well kept.

19 Jul 2009 16:58

The Crown, Hawes

Visiting Hawes on a summer Sunday we called in here for a bite to eat at lunchtime. Excellent - good service, good food and good beer with friendly and excellent service even though busy. It was noticeable that there were lot of locals meeting up in family groups - that is the best sign of a good pub.

19 Jul 2009 16:54

The Dalesman Inn, Sedbergh

Called in on a summers day at lunchtime - very quiet, but good food, good beer and good service.

19 Jul 2009 16:50

The Royal Shepherd Inn, Skipton

The previous comment flatters to deceive is spot on, service, location and beer are fine, food? - well put it like this Little Chef does it better...... For a beer beside the canal fine. But this could be an absolutely brilliant pub, but I think the current landlord and cook are lets be kind a little past it.

19 Jul 2009 16:47

The Swan, Bank

The Swan is a real pub, great atmosphere, good food, excellent beer. Walk past the trendy pseudo wine bars and come here

19 Mar 2009 18:46

The Crown and Cushion, Blackwater

This is now my lunch time local and has steadily improved. we used to drive past now we stop. Good geer ggod food and good service.

15 Mar 2009 08:00

The Anchor Inn, Ringmer

Great friendly pub. Good beer. Good food. Excellent service. And the best indication clean loos. I'll be returning.

27 Feb 2009 20:18

The Green Man, Ringmer

Dont you just love bar staff who ignore you to serve their friends, take their food orders and then tell you they are too busy to take your order and wait at the table for 10 or 15 minutes. Guess what we left and went to the Anchor which was brilliant.

27 Feb 2009 20:14

The Dolphin, Betchworth

This used to be a great pub that has gone down hill fast. The food is incredibly expensive and lousy value. Main courses the size of a starter, . If 5 small slices of potato and a few slices of other things go with Sea Bass and vegetables then go ahead and pay...... It used to be a struggle to park - now its easy - says it all.

26 Feb 2009 20:44

The Swan, West Wickham

Worst pub in the area, scruffy, expensive, smokey but not for much longer thank heavens - they encourage smokers at the moment (is that the only customer profile that wants to go here?). Worth driving a 100 miles to avoid in my opinion, unless that is you are in a tatty Nova with drain pipe exhaust........
