The Ypres Castle Inn, Rye

Visited during the Scallop Festival this last weekend, were found a last minute table on Saturday night to enjoy a great meal and excellent Timothy Taylors Landlord.
On that point the landlord seemed a tad off at first BUT warmed on our second visit Sunday lunch. Managed to grab the two armchairs in front of the log fire and stayed for four pints. Bliss.
The landlord couldn't accommodate us for Sunday lunch but had recommended a great little Italian place nearby. Couldn't ask much more from a so called grumpy bloke.
I'd recommend this pub as the beers were good.

Mitre Tavern, Brighton

A great place to spend a Saturday afternoon and early evening; and with a curry house nearly next door. Harveys was fantastic, welcome was warm, company fine. Sadly 20 miles from home :(

The Bugle Inn, Brighton

Last session this weekend went well. Nice welcome from staff/licencees. As always! Beer good, nice to see some of long term regulars still there.
I'll try to remember you, JH, next time!

The Albion Inn, Brighton

Sadly now a Punch Tavern.
Another real pub bites the dust.
Visited last Saturday lunchtime. Advised by mate not to bother before I got there. Thought about crying!!!!!

Is Mick still behind the bar?
Along with the Bugle, this is one of the best proper pubs in this area. Will be visiting again for my annual pilgrimage from out in the sticks.

The Royal Oak, Wineham

This pub used to be the village shop!
I knew Young Tim and Old Tim. Many of the artefacts on the walls were supplied by my father, a drinking buddy of Old Tim (in the Good Old Days' ) Sadly both old gents propping up the bar in the St Peters Arms now.
I still reckon this is possibly one of the best pubs anywhere.
Hope the new people are keen to keep[ the pub the way it is. Have heard they have bands on! The Old Man and Old Tim will be spinning!!!

The Bridge Inn, Upper Beeding

Before being 'Badgered' this pub was truly excellent. New managers trying really hard to boost trade.

The Kings Head, Upper Beeding

Drink here regularly, always receive a friendly welcome. Often the Harveys is superb, ditto the Spitfire. To be avoided week end lunchtimes when sadly understaffed, and kids behind the bar are frazzled. Otherwise a very decent boozer with huge potential.

The Bugle Inn, Brighton

Moved into the Bugle around 1964 ish.
Used to be a Watney Tamplin pub.
Swapped to Courage in the mid 70s I think, Mum and Dad, Den and Gwen moved out before Iain and Eileen moved in about 14-15 years ago.
As far as we know only one other family of licencees have held the pub and that was the Wells family from when it was built.
Agree with all the other posts ~ has always been a good locals' pub and despite interferences by numerous brewers has a fantastic cellar for keeping beer in good nick (despite the stupid refrigeration plant installed in the 80's!)
Only manage one visir per year but always , still ,receive a very warm welcome! Thanks to Iain and Eileen for keeping up the good work.
