Fenman Free House, Kings Lynn

6-9-12 day trip to Lynn.Last pub of the day.Plenty of history in here.I ordered two Gin and Tonics with lime.YES! Result,a pub in Kings Lynn that had fecking limes and the barman offered us the double up deal for a 1 extra.Good prompt service.

Wenns, Kings Lynn

Day trip to Kings Lynn on Thursday 6-09-12...After sampling the 'delights' of the Maiden we ventured into here.No real ale on whatsoever! The lad behind the bar said as it had been delivered earlier that day. This is a sign of a very poorly run pub with cashflow issues. So I asked for a pint of 1664,the barrel went so his went down to the cellar to change it.Meanwhile a heavily tattooed gormless local thought that there was no-one on the bar at all and started to shout 'Matthew,Matthew' loud to get his attention for us!! This is so wrong. When the lad came back up he proceeded to pour my pint in a bloody Becks glass whilst he turned his back to me (ignorant and damned rude),I ordered a G&T for the wife and again no lime (Lime's cost about 20p max each) so it was pre bought lemon out of those God awful tubs.To top it off he put it into a half pint glass,no tall mixer glasses at all and this great experiences for the price of over 7.Again an original wooden features pub, ruined by idiots who dont have a clue how to run one.AVOID.

Ye Olde Maydens Heade, Kings Lynn

Day trip to Kings Lynn on Thursday 6 Sept 2012 and after a walk round we thought lets pop into here.As we crossed the car park we notice a middle aged scruffy man sat down in the doorway of the pub smoking a ciggie, not an appealing sight (should of turned away there really) Got in and had to wait ages for the barmaid to appear and when she did after 4 minutes (bad sign) she was eating some sandwiches that she had just made herself and made no attempt to wash her hands before serving me (another bad sign) I ordered a pint of Crag Rat and a G & slimline with lime. "Got no lime" was the sturdy reply so I asked for lemon "Got no lemon" ahh,I thought that it's absolutely shocking that a pub doesnt have either. Then I just knew this was about to happen, the barmaid then opened up the tonic and poured it straight into the glass, that's when I had a small bit of pleasure to inform her with "Thats not slimline,I did tell you slimline" so she had to pour another gin and get it right. We sat down and observed a young man about early twenties with his top off inside the pub with his girlfriend and baby....I also checked out the toilets, filthy as I expected. This just summed it all up.Crap pub, dire service, filthy toilets,a feral lad with his top off inside a pub WTF?....This pub is in a prime location with plenty of history. But with the people like this in it,the place will go to the wall and deservedly so.

The Globe Hotel, Kings Lynn

Came to Kings Lynn and went here on Thursday 6- 09-12 for the wife's birthday.Got a pint of local ale and a G and T. Clean place and pleasant enough.....worse was to occur later in the day from some other of the Lynn pubs!

The Dock Tavern, Gorleston

Revisited this pub recently and what a fantastic change! Great beer and good entertainment.

The Market Tavern, Great Yarmouth

Went into this place just after vacating the Gallon Pot.The first thing that hit me was the stench of the frying oil.I got to the bar, empty pub I hasten to add.The barmaid noticed me,in came a local and he had his pint of Stella served before me,with that I just walked out....Dirty pub, obnoxious barmaid.

16 Aug 2012 13:25

Gallon Pot, Great Yarmouth

Visited "Great" Yarmouth to see some relatives and popped into here for a whet.Firstly I had a ask a grey flannel tracksuited, smoking chav to move out of the doorway to get in.Not a good sign. Then I waited ages at the bar for the staff to notice me (it wasnt that busy) whilst hearing a heavilly tattooed, huge 'gold' chain around his neck, muscle vest wearing, baseball cap donned chav swearing his head off.I looked around around and saw what clientele there was and then walked out, after I moved the smoking chav from the doorstep. What ever happened to this lovely, wonderful pub.Avoid at all costs!

16 Aug 2012 13:21

The Kingston Arms, Cambridge

Went there Saturday afternoon.Had a pint of 7.5% Perry which was excellent.Sat outside and ordered two ploughmans lunches and a bottle of pinot grigio blush. The whole meal, drinks and atmosphere were top banana.I thoroughly recommend the Kingston to anyone who fancies a taste of quality.

15 Aug 2012 16:35

The Hereward, Ely

Good deals on bottles of wine, found a table of which we had to clear ourselves and then go and ask one of the disinterested staff to come and clean down. The female staff all seem to congregate at one end of the bar, thus giving the impression that they are more interested in their latest tacky tattoo, fake tans and other general gossip. We also overheard a family on the next table complaining to the manager about their food as three of the meals were wrong,he just didnt know how to deal with the situation. But it's a good pub to watch the comedy staff in action.

15 Aug 2012 16:15

The Cutter Inn, Ely

Went in there on Friday after work for a pint of Summer Lightning, glass of wine and some nuts, ten pounds spent straight away. The location is why it's expensive but at least the are no local ratboys drinking in the place.

15 Aug 2012 16:10

The Kings Arms, Ely

Excellent place to go now that it has been fully redeveloped and refurbished to a very high standard. The riff raff and feral scum that used to go in the pub have all been got rid of and the pub always has 4 real ales and a good wine selection. The food is locally sourced and is really good value too.I can thoroughly recommend this pub for good ale, good food and the landlady is always very welcoming and talkative!

7 Feb 2010 14:42

The Hare Inn, Long Melford

Pooped in for something to eat which was edible as I was very hungry.Abbot Ale went down well. Nice pub.

6 Oct 2009 22:09

The Horse and Groom, Streatham

Went in the during the week footy was on the box.No atmosphere, did notice some of the idiots looking at you as if you had three heads.People like that dont wory me,but for someone less robust it could be intimidating.Crapbeer and crap service. Will avoid due to the beer, better off going to the Five bells!

26 Sep 2009 10:25

The White Lion, Streatham

Popped in there on Thursday night and had a hoot! Beer line cleaning night so the doors got shut and the beer was pulled off,Oz came round and said to put some money in a charity pot and help yourself to the beer.Great night.Pub is run for a charity for which all the profits go to some dissadvantaged youngsters, great artwork on the wall by Mau Mau.All the staff are volunteers and they are extremely friendly too.

26 Sep 2009 10:20

The Five Bells, Streatham

Working in Lahhdahhn for the week so made this a place to stop off for a pint.Friendly locals in Lee the coachie and Dave.Good staff who made you feel at home.IPA,Ruddles and a local ale.All kept in good condition.I will pop in again to this pub when in Streatham again.Very good place.

26 Sep 2009 10:09

The George Hotel, Castleton

Went in there on Monday evening for one pint.......but stayed all night! Great little pub,we cleared up on the quiz and other prizes.Real ale was very tasty, well kept and served by very welcoming and friendly staff.Well recommended to all! This place made my inlaws 60th extra special!

20 Sep 2009 00:02

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Inn, Castleton

Only stayed in there for one pint.Beer was well kept and local.Friendly lady behind the bar.No atmosphere though.....

19 Sep 2009 23:58

Bulls Head Hotel, Castleton

Stayed there on Monday evening.Small room for the price but then again it was in the touristy area.Had a meal in the restaurant which was fabulous.Menu was excellent! The real ale consisted of three local ales and they were very agreeable.Breakfast was very good as were the views from the rooms.Worth staying if you can verify the booking!!

19 Sep 2009 23:57

The Royal Hotel, Runswick Bay

Went in there on Thursday.Great views, nice beer and friendly staff. The only thing was that the menu was very unappealing, could of been more variety and less curry on it,after all how many people want a foreign dish when overlooking the sea? Ploughmans, salads, seafood more fish and local foods wouldnt of gone a miss. Not difficult really afterall the prices werent that cheap either! Shame.

19 Sep 2009 23:51

The Dolphin, Robin Hood's Bay

Went in there on Wednesday.Nice pint of ale, quiet pub but enjoyable.

19 Sep 2009 23:46

The Board Inn, Whitby

Went in there on Tuesday.Bad service as the barboy was talking to his mates at the same time as serving us.The 'chef' was sitting there in the bar in his DIRTY whites drinking before the food started in the evening (put us off to eat,4 of us).Made to feel not particularly welcome either. So needless to say that we woudnt recommend this place especially when there is such a great place 4 yards away next door!

19 Sep 2009 23:42

The Shambles, Whitby

Nice pub overlooking the harbour.I had XB and she had 'slush puppy' cider, very nice.Clean place.

19 Sep 2009 23:37

Duke of York, Whitby

Went there on tuesday evening and we had a great pint of Black Sheep.Funny, welcoming barman who kept us entertained.Tons of single malts on offer great views and it was busy.FAR better than the 'pub' next door!!!

19 Sep 2009 23:35

The Little Angel, Whitby

Went in there on Tuesday evening and had a pint of Adnams. Was thirsty so took a big swig and within 3 minutes I had to go to the toilet and feel sick, went back to the bar and smelt the beer and it was rank.Sorry but with a pint like that I would never like to go there again as it has put me right off.

19 Sep 2009 23:33

Finn M'Couls, Weymouth

Fantastic live music pub.Good beer and very friendly staff! The juke box is metal heaven!

7 Sep 2009 12:15

Ye Olde One Bull, Bury St Edmunds

Went there yesterday.Had a pint of Adnams Broadside which was very tasty indeed.Lady has Aspalls cyder.Great sit down area in comfy chairs which could of been deadly after a hard days shopping! Recommended for slobbing out.Very clean place too.

7 Sep 2009 11:34

Rose and Crown, Bury St Edmunds

Tried to go in there yesterday afternoon but was shut!

7 Sep 2009 11:31

The Old Cannon Brewery, Bury St Edmunds

Went there yesterday afternoon and found the beer very good and tasty.Aspalls too for my lady.Perfect end to a good day as we waited for the train.Went for one beer but stopped for three.

7 Sep 2009 11:30

The Nutshell, Bury St Edmunds

Had a pint of Abbot which was good to taste.Great little pub, plenty of 'olde worlde' stuff on the walls to look at.Very friendly barman.Visit was for uniqueness only.

7 Sep 2009 11:28

The Masons Arms, Bury St Edmunds

Would of loved to go in,but was shut on a Sunday afternoon, grrr!

7 Sep 2009 11:26

The Dog and Partridge, Bury St Edmunds

Went there yesterday,6.9.09 Nice and very clean pub.Ordered food but the mains came out with white bread instead of the granary which we ordered, food was very nice so didnt care. Was going to have St.Edmunds ale but saw Aspalls cyder so tried a large glass each, very nice.Great outside area which was a suntrap when sun is out.Would recommended for lunch.

7 Sep 2009 11:25

The Cutter Inn, Ely

Went there on Sunday for lunch.Good amount of food no complaints there.I go about twice a week for a pint or two and the only thing that really irritates me is the way the staff dont tell you how much the rounds cost and just expect a note to be handed over to them and they never tell you how much change you have, very, very infruriating so I have to ask everytime.Just laziness I suppose.Expensive yes,but better class of people go in there to avoid the vermin in town.

3 Sep 2009 11:32

The Orange Tree, Nottingham

plenty of students.Great selection of ales, music was loud, barstaff friendly and very curteous.Women bouncers too!

29 Aug 2009 08:20

Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, Nottingham

2.80 for a Ye Olde Trip was cheap! Went there last month and it was very quiet as it was a Sunday evening. The history of the pub is everywhere around you.Played the Horn game for ages, ale was in tip top condition, staff were very friendly.Wish that the pub would sell their own T-shirt/polo shirt as I wanted to buy one.

29 Aug 2009 08:17

Woodman, Peterborough

Great little pub.Met some old Navy mates there and had penty of beer.Good barstaff, clean safe environment and some nice talent.

29 Aug 2009 08:13

The Church Farm, Burgh Castle

Had the experience of eating there......Ordered a cheeseburger for mains,I was so hungry. When it came out it was in a CIABATTA bun!?!??!! I complained saying that I ordered a cheeseburger not this and the waitress apologised and said that is how we do them.I couldnt eat it due to the crusty exterior of the 'bun'...I asked for money off due to the menu not stating this and not being told.Manager came out and I said why and he did take it off my bill.Quite embarrassing for the other people I was with to see me do this infront of them.I would go again but as the views of the Broads couldnt put me off and I just would avoid the 'cheeseburger' in future.

29 Aug 2009 08:05

The Kings Head, Belton

Looks like a great pub.Went in there for a pint of Adnams Explorer,it was a bad pint and it was 'gone' so i asked for a Broadside instead. The barman refused to acknowledge it was off! Even when I said 'dont you think that I would drink it if it wasnt?' He refused to budge so I just left.Never again will I go in there. If I could rate this with a minus then.......

29 Aug 2009 07:57

The Prince Regent, Great Yarmouth

Was a cracking pub about 7 years ago attracting live music and a really busy weekend turnout with bouncers on the door who refused entry to ANY young scrote in groups.Sadly it been taken over and your lager (no real ales!)by tracksuit wearing Scousers.I wouldnt go in this place agin due to the rudeness of the staff, dirtyness of the bar and toilets.

29 Aug 2009 07:50

The Albion, Great Yarmouth

Just got shut down to to fighting and loud music after residents complained.Says it all.........

29 Aug 2009 07:43

Tramway, Gorleston

This pub was great years ago Sadly not now,as it attracts all the shit which have been barred from the other pubs in the area.No real ale either.Plenty of punters from the betting shop across the road so the is always hoss racing on t'box in the bar.Local clientele glance over at you to eye you up and down as if you are invading 'their' turf.I would rather go to a cafe for a cup of tea than go in here again.

29 Aug 2009 07:40

The New Entertainer, Gorleston

Good pub, plenty of good ales.Landlord was very friendly and the locals were too.Went in there with my Dad and brothers for a pre wet before going up town but stayed in the pub most of the night as the atmosphere was great.

29 Aug 2009 07:36

The New Commodore, Gorleston

This is on a par with the cap and Gown.Complete shit hole.Crap beer and non existant service, with people like this running pubs no wonder they are shutting.

29 Aug 2009 07:33

Mariners Compass, Gorleston

Good barstaff, great ales as the were 4on when I went in.Rolls made to order for a pound! Great atmosphere.

29 Aug 2009 07:24

The Feathers Inn, Gorleston

No real ale.Very, very expensive too.Used to be good, now it's just rubbish.Too many youngsters swearing loudly and the staff just ignore it.Avoid.

17 Aug 2009 14:28

The Cap and Gown, Gorleston

Windows boarded up.....went in there once last month and the place was a shit tip as it attracts ruffians and their ilk from the council estate. Not recommended for couples young or old or families.Ok for thugs.

17 Aug 2009 14:26

The Albion, Gorleston

Went in last week as I try to pop in when in the area.4 real ales on and I had one of each, all in tip top condition.Prices are ok for the ales expensive for everything else.Locals pub yes but I always am to made to feel very welcome by the manager and staff.

17 Aug 2009 14:24

The Dock Tavern, Gorleston

Shut unfortunately.Excellent ales and good staff.

17 Aug 2009 14:21

Captain Manby, Gorleston

Toby Carvery.Cheapish prices for beer, food is dirt cheap.Eating a meal is very pushed through, conveyorbelt and you feel compelled to eat quick and ship out. Some of the waitresses are really good (the maturer ones) the young ones are a little bit wooden. The bar area is a restaurant waiting room in effect but it is nice to sit down with a pint and newspaper out of the way of the host shouting peoples names out to get cattled in to eat.....

17 Aug 2009 14:20

Troll Cart, Great Yarmouth

Cheap food and cheap beer.Good selection of real ales. The only problem is that it attracts some scummy people because of the price.Great location as you can watch all the ratboy chavs play up across the road at McDonalds and KFC.Plus you can watch all the obese, jewellery bedecked single Mums push their black babies in their prams to Poundland.
Back to the pub.Allways busy, staff are under pressure to get people served and there is a heavy rotation of staff so that means there must be a problem somewhere?? Well it is a Wetherspoons! Best in the winter when its not full.

17 Aug 2009 14:17

Pub on the Prom, Great Yarmouth

Great pub, good real ales and good food. Great staff also especially the two sisters! This is a must for a cheap tasty meal and a pint during the daytime.Clean toilets and environment.Fantastic location as you can see the pier and all the drivers entering the wrong way up a one way system so thats the entertainment too!

17 Aug 2009 14:10

The Royal Standard, Ely

mmmm, what can I say.The bar staff have no interest at all apart from the landlord and his wife who do try.Locals do take preference over the outsiders which I had to actually say "I think you'll find that I'm next" Which didnt go down too well but hey, bollocks to them.Bit of an atmosphere after that.
Havent eaten there due to the dog running in and out of the kitchen all the time which does put one off.Landlord and his wife keep on going to the kitchen to top their glasses up with their own wine, great appeal!.When I bought a glass of O.J. for my friend, the gormless barman just poured it straight from the Tescos Value carton to the glass,C'mon hasnt somebody got the sense to at least put it into a glass jug first? I tend to avoid the place due to these people running it (into the ground perhaps) Nice exterior lures folk in but the people on the interior drive them out.

17 Aug 2009 13:45

The Town House, Ely

very busy when its a Fri/Sat night as all the vermin go to there from the pub across the road.We didnt even stay for a drink as I was being pushed in the back by some thick ratboy even though I couldnt go any further due to people infront of me.When we left people were queing to get in,thats sad.One in one out policy, best left for the locals who think that 'ooooeer Cambridge' is too much of a strange place for a better night out.
To be avoided.

17 Aug 2009 13:36

The Kings Arms, Ely

Went in there 15 August.Band playing very loud in the back bar there were only10 folk in there and 6 in the front bar. Only one real ale and it wasnt good to taste probably through lack of drinking.....Difficult to judge as the place wasnt busy.

17 Aug 2009 13:32

The Lamb Hotel, Ely

Nice relaxed atmosphere.Clean place and toilets.Quite expensive but worth going to if you think that the Minster is too boisterous.........

17 Aug 2009 13:29

The Prince Albert, Ely

Went there Sat 15 August Best pub in Ely for me.Great real ales and the Abbot is blinding! Great beer garden for in the summer evening. My girlfriend says its a nice undaunting place and that she could go in on her own for a drink as its friendly.A fantastic bloke behind the bar and a very nice ambience all around. No mouthy shite in here to spoil your night.Well recommended.

17 Aug 2009 13:27

The Minster Tavern, Ely

I go in there once or twice a week.Sometimes as on a weekend there are none of the 3 real ales on which I find absolutely maddening. Some of the staff are ok and polite some of the time. The thing that makes me think 'yuk' is there fact that the 'chef' comes out of the kitchen and puts their frame into the door frame in the main bar so that you can see that he is wearing dirty tracksuit bottoms,off-white trainers and a grubby T-shirt.That has put me off buying food in there everytime. The pub does seem to attract some of the local 'celebrities' meaning the Stella drinking ladies who punctuate the air with their F's and C words. The food ordering system has alot to be desired as I have watched folk from coach parties leave taking their dinner with them in tin foil, with gravy dripping out of the sides! I understand that pubs have to make money but not appreciating the cooking time etc is totally wrong and so is not refunding any/part cost of the meal due to the staffs fault...........3/10 food service,7/10 actual food,7/10 real ale (when on) and staff 5/10

17 Aug 2009 12:56

White Hart, Hopton on Sea

Went there recently and what a change from two years ago.It was very busy and vibrant then with a cracking lad behind the bar,he was polite and curteous but also with a great sense of wit to make us both feel at home..........Now it has changed albeit for the worse, the same miserable, rude, fingernail biting waitress was there as before. She needed a rocket up her arse and there was another one who didnt have a clue either, neither were 'good ole locals' who cared and knew about things locally. The food was basic and bland it looked as if there wasnt any effort to make the dishes look appetising at all.Even my wifes sandwich was wrong, how on earth can you give someone white bread when you ask for brown????
The man behind the bar was trying but kept disapearring into the kitchen every now and again so two people who walked into the pub were waiting for a bit and after a few minutes they just walked out (great business sense there methinks!) I can safely say that we and there kids WILL NOT go there again and will not recommend it to anyone else in the future.Shame really.
