The Horse and Jockey, Stapleford

Well it's finally happened, someone making a go at a real pub, in Stabbo.

Since the town is inundated with plenty of TV/slots/pool table/jukebox/cheap keg/lager/alchopop/shots/pram-friendly rammel already, and the only effort at a multiple real ales pub limited to WitherKFCs; the Jockey's refurb & change of tack is very much to this contributor's pleasure.

Before, exactly as described; Now, new management, tidy enough refurb, 10 handpulls (predominately locale), no music, no slots, no carvery, nothing but conversation, proper snacks and awesome beer. Oh and CAMRA member discounts BTW, too.

Long may it last.

My Xmas present has definitely come early.

The Organ Grinder, Nottingham

First opportunity, yesterday, for a visit, since its simian conversion, and what a delight it was,

Absolutely excellent beers, fabulous atmosphere, friendly service & a lovely beer garden.

Will definitely be returning (many times I suspect).

I heartily agree, nivramkram; Organ Grinder - pub of the year 2012.

The White Lion, Egham

What a dive !
Staff about as cheerful as a bulldog chewing a wasp after licking piss off a nettle.
Only seems to gather a crowd of people (term used loosely) because it has Sky Sports, it's certainly not for their extensive range of real ale. John Smith's smoothflow at 3 a pint, or sod all else, will not be attracting this punter back in a hurry.

The Ferry Inn, Wilford

Fine food, whilst pricier than average, was served in a timely manner, unlike previous comments. That said, a personality implant wouldn't go amiss with the staff that my family were exposed to, & some manners education wouldn't go amiss. Our visit was mid-afternoon, so it may have been end of shift syndrome & the timeliness may have been because they weren't so busy. Either way, not enough to preclude another visit.

The Manor, Toton

Food oriented pub. If you like the smell of chips with your beer this'll be for you.

The Happy Man, Stapleford

Recent change of management has improved the pub no end.

Fox and Grapes, Hawarden

Food excellent, beer just as good. Very friendly staff. All in all, not much to fault.

The Albion, Winchester

Fine beer, & on my own visit, all very friendly (well, by Winchester standards, anyway ;-)). Only slight problem is that space is at a premium.

The Seven Oaks, Stanton by Dale

Small, but friendly pub in middle of what was once the centre of Stanton Ironworks, & now somewhat of an isolated spot.

Beer always top notch to complement excellent pub grub ( probably one of the best value quality Sunday dinners in the area ).

Well worth adding a detour on to any walk 'round about.

The Dog and Sausage, St Helier

Lovely little (single room) pub, styled as a Victorian railway carriage, bedecked with lots of railway memorabillia. Great real ale (Ringwood when I was there); friendly staff; well worth a small detour off the main streets.
