The Fox & Grapes is one of two pubs I tried in Hawarden. Neither were brilliant. But the Glynne Arms had the better atmosphere and a far better ale selection. I will request for that to be added to the site. The Fox & Grapes was very quiet. Only two other customers were present. Ales were also fairly standard - Weetwood Cheshire Cat, Tetley's Cask & Sharp's Doom Bar.

A NOTE FROM THE NEW FOX & GRAPES:

All comments posted on this page are from several years ago: long before the new owners took over at the pub.

The pub has three new chefs who prepare quality food daily which is served by competent and professional staff. The menu remains varied and reasonable priced as do bar prices.

We urge you to come along and try us out again, and if you had a bad experience in previous times, we are certain you will have a different view upon leaving.

What the hell happend here? just moved back to hawarden after traveling hoping to come back to a nice crispy pint of carling when all i got was a flat and dirty pint. Was busy at the time, food was not bad but nothing like it use to be.

Fully agree with ruffloverz, the most pricey pub I've been to in a while. You can tell it's run by business minded people, not proper landlords as the portions keep getting smaller whilst the prices keep getting higher!!

Not one to recommend.

Thought this to be an excellent pub, beers were in good condition but the guest expensive at 2.50 a pint, staff very friendly and helpful, would call again.
