Folly Inn, Whippingham

I just love this place, lovely ambience, owners and staff and friendly, wooden floors and views over the river. Food is fantastic and not too expensive. Had half pint of prawns with crusty brown bread mayonnaise and fresh lemon for under 6. Fillet steaks with all the trimmings and a tasty diane sauce (didnt taste packet made for once) for 16. Im going christmas day for a 5 course lunch at 50 cant wait

The Waterside, Cowes

Great food here, been several times and always happy with portions and quality of whats served. Staff are quite young and can be slow and a bit dippy when asking for anything unusual "pernod blackcurrent and lemnonade" is apparantly a new thing to drink NOT

The Anchor Inn, Cowes

Food here was lovely, eaten there twice and not been disappointed either time. Steak with fried onions is delicious but calimari salad is more salad and less calamari.

The Spyglass Inn, Ventnor

Visited this pub several times because of the spectacular view. Found the lady taking the orders was extremely brusque and perfuntary, but the place was always busy. Had a cold ploughmans which was huge loads of ham and cheese etc. Second time had a steak which was stone cold and tough as an old boot. Accompanying bits and bobs frozen and deep fried not especially nicely. Boyfriend had calamari though and he said that was lovely.
