Visited Cowes at the weekend for the first time since 1981 as an 18 year old. The Harbour Lights, as it was called then, was the best pub for an 18 year old to go to. Not much else in Cowes has changed, but this place now looks awful. I would expect it to close pretty soon, there was no one in it. Tragic waste of a decent location. I believe all these reviews too.

Two of us were in the middle of a cooked meal when we were very rudely told to move to another table as there was "a problem with the table." We asked if it could wait until we were finished eating which would be another ten minutes. We were told to move "now". We had no choice but to move. The table was then taken by two men! We made a complaint as we left and we were told the manager had ordered this member of staff to get us to move, the manager is called Keith and when we asked to speak to him, we were told he had gone out! It is quite clear that these two men were mates of the manager and we were moved to suit the managers mates! Quite disgusting way to treat customers! Don't go there! EVER!

A year and a half on from my one and only visit, and it still remains by far the worst pub I have ever been into. Memories of the food still linger on, like a Hitchcock horror film. If BITE had a minus rating, this place would get a more accurate mark from me.

This place sucks the life and soul out of all who enter ... apart from the owners, who must be laughing all the way to the bank.

Dreadful doesn't come close. Not a micron of customer service has ever been dished out in here.

The beer that tastes of nothing.

The food tastes of nothing. The steak feels like leather; the burgers glue your mouth up, like dried porridge; and the mickey-take of an upgrade to a mushroom burger comes with less than half a (small) mushroom.
That's okay, though - because "it's our standard portion ... all portions come like that".
Well, that is good to know.
If I'm ever in Cowes again, I'll eat the sole of my shoe before I set foot in this place again - and I'll end up with less indigestion.

The place really lets it's setting down enormously, it's in such a prime spot, and deserves so much more. Food is truly awful, and they really give the impression that they don't want to be at work. Bad decor, and a toilet that needs a good clean. Avoid this place, there are better pubs in the area that will make you feel welcome
